Dad sounds more like hot air than solar wind.

I just wanted to,as my first post ever, say how much I love the new site set up.

Works so much better than the old and is easier to read.

I may have to crack and pay up.

Sometimes Dad’s explainations creative and brilliant… but as to the fact of scientific’s sake….Dad should work on it1

Calvin’s weird Dad is about to get in trouble again. Love this comic. Reminds me of my own weird family.

Finally I understand a lot more about nature. Thanks dad, I love these alternative explanations.

At least Dad got one thing right…hot air does rise. But honestly his explanation is way better. I’m sure Calvin would appreciate that in later years!

The moon is filled with helium and rises in the night. but because space is cold the helum molecules suck in and the moon sets.

Actually, as everyone knows, the Earth rotates on its axis. The sun and moon are in stationary orbit on opposite sides of the world so it only LOOKS like the sun and moon are rising and setting. The moon would melt if it were on the same side as the sun, and the sun would freeze if it were on the same side as the moon. Hope this explains things in greater detail. (Carl Sagan would be proud.)

Calvin and Hobbes should never end!

I used to work with a guy who did this sort of thing to his kids all the time.

“Daddy, what does that “NO OUTLET” sign mean?” “It means there’s no electricity in the houses on this block.”

“Daddy, where do Fritos come from?” “They grow on trees.” “No they don’t!” “Sure they do. Look on the bag: ‘Plants in 9 states’.”

Love the overhaul!!! its way cool!

We should never again have cause to wonder as to where Calvin gets his ideas.

The problem with this is that they stop asking questions sooner or later.

At least he’s not teaching him creationism.

My kids loved it when I did this. They learned important things, not about science, but about humor, timing, and how to keep a straight face. Of course now that their minds are quicker than mine, they do it to me all the time. Turnabout. I’m just glad I love it as much as they did.

Dad sorta reminds me of when Hobbes “knows it all”.

Observation; Dad looks like like he’s going #1 in the first cell…

I really don’t like Calvin’s father… but then I never did… could it be because my father was somewhat like that? he told us that chocolate milk came from brown cows…

for sure dad is going to try to convince calvin he knows a lot , but he forgets how smart calvin is RinaFarina do you mean to say that chocolate milk doesn’t come from brown cows…. oh the humanity

…And heat expands but cold contracts – which is why the days are longer in the summer but shorter in the winter….

I learned so much from Calvin and Hobbes when I was a kid. Like how to do math from Hobbes. “We say the answer is ‘y’ as in ‘Why do we care?’”

Kids sometimes know when they’re being spoofed. I loved it when it would thunder and my dad would say, “That’s the devil rolling potatoes in his cellar.”

What? I was almost believin’ Dad.

Hey Dad’s aren’t supposed to do that…they should always tell the truth :) Don’t they?

I do believe in creationism.

It’s NO WONDER that Cal gets every question wrong @school - between Dad’s ”Words Of Questionable Wisdom” & Hobbes’s “Makes Sense To ME” answers for his homework, the poor boy’ll NEVER get outa Grade School……..

I do this with my son. He’s 13 and already trying it with me. I just love it!

Why is mom yelling at dad ? Good grief, don’t tell me she doesn’t agree with dad’s explanations. She should know better !!

I would love to hear dad explain daylight saving time to Calvin.

Creation is the best way to go. I’d hate to think all you funny people were just accidents. LOL

We all know all about the sciences. If we have no sun, this Earth will become deeply coldest and if we have no moon, the gravity which hold everything on the grounds of this Earth will shatter everywhere. So this Earth needs the sun to balance the temperatures with cold and hot and the moon for gravity to keep holding everything and us on the grounds. Does that make sense?

You’ve got to love Calvin’s dad! He’s a riot. But Calvin is so gullable, it’s not fair to string him along. That’s Hobbes job! LOL

this is my first post although i have been reading comics here for a long time and i love calvin n hobbes(who would not:)

back to the comic,that theory actually makes some sense..dont know why mom has to shout about it!

@ Honey R - the moon doesn’t rise at night, the earth sinks. Since the sun is no longer there to warm it up, the earth cools and sets, making the moon look like it’s rising in the sky!

just keep in mind that the opposite of gravity is levity…

I think it’s cool that Dad gets one back on Calvin for all the trouble Calvin causes him. Look at what Calvin does to Susie too, so when Hobbes or Dad or even Susie put him on it’s payback time!

Jfri, bill nye the pizza guy is more like it… lol, anyways, hi everyone lots of new people here along with me ( i just dont really like the gray face with a question mark ) i’ve been reading this strip for a while now and i decided to join. YAY

I consider this collective wisdom proof of evolution.

I don’t like the genius thingy becuase now I can’t see comics 7 days old, absurd! I kinda like the new layout….I guess. Also Calvin’s dad should now this, “Tis the mind that makes the body rich,” Petruchio* *for those who don’t know he is a character fro William Shakespear’s Taming of the Shrew, and for the grown ups who don’t know this…I am only 12 and in 7th grade, ha ha!
