I record most of the programs I watch still on the VCR and then watch them later, that way I can fast forward through the commercials. Welcome to the first day of Spring everyone!

^Dino-1 …Even so called news programs are full of fluff and most of the features tell you to eat more fat foods and visit garden centers and see people coming through town to collect your money, in fact most of the fluff is pay-o-la to the station to rip you off….fast forward is wonderful!

My other can’t understand why I go in the other room and read. She complains about the cost of the books mailed to me. If I were into movies, I could go to 15 first run movies a month if We got rid of cable.

The TV is almost as ugly as the fridge. However the fridge contains food for my body. Does the TV contain food for my brain?

“Why is the TV jumping around?” It’s symbolic of how violence is so dominant on TV. There’s so much violence that the TV set itself is affected. We can only wonder what the cumulative effect is on the people, especially YOUNG people, who watch the carnage and swallow it whole.

Dino-1 I also tape but not what you think. My mom is not into electronic devices like DVD so we now have a combo. Since everyone was forced to digital age brought by the government some stations don’t come in too great. I work pt pm so on weekends I catch up. I tape using VHS tapes are not that expensive and do wear out after repetitive taping. We here in KS SC are getting snow but further southeast will be getting more. The residential street here is almost clear. I somewhat agree with Calvin there are some shows I don’t care about. But one is coming on I am anxious to see. I have books here I read but get them from garage sales depends on how much people charge I have a big collection when read I will get rid of them.

They use to refer to television as the great American wasteland and nothing on today refutes this statement. The drek that is fopped on us as entertainment is mindless garbage……thank goodness we have the comics.

The only “reality” t.v. shows I like to watch (besides football and basketball) are trivia game shows like “Jeopardy”, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” and “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?”, things that actually expand and educate the mind … everything else is pretty much just garbage.

Calvin’s right, nowadays the programs they show on Saturdays are totally boring. Don’t they realize that many people stay home to relax on Saturdays and some just want to sit and relax with a good show. Yet, when you turn on the tv, all you see are nothing but reruns and infomercials.

Heaven help me! I just got the AT&T equivalent of a TiVo, so instead of being selective about what I tape on the old VCR, I just record 2-3 shows at the same time I’m watching something else. Very bad habit to get into.

I’m pretty sure that the TV is jumping around to convey the message that it is loud, noisy, ….. and trying to cram a bunch of bleeep into your dormant mind.

You sit there passively, but it blares everything at you at 100 miles a second; kind of like a really rude car salesman.
