At least when you don’t finish reading the story, you’ll, at a minimum, know who did it.

Would you believe, this was an answer on Jeapardy that nobody knew?

i’ve literally read hundreds of mysteries and not once did the butler do it, if there even was a butler in the story

Even if it gives away the ending, the reader might STILL want to know how, when, where and why.

Columbo had the same premise. You knew who the killer was from the start, but the fun was to see how Columbo solves the case.

A favorite Far Side showed detectives examining a stabbed body at the Butlers of the World Annual Banquet. “God, Collings, I hate to start a Monday with a case like this.”

For heaven’s sake, at least put it on the BACK cover.

I used to read a lot when I was a kid. I once looked up some of the titles that I could remember and they were selling for over $50 each. Now I just read from a tablet and the Bible. Glad I didn’t spend any money.
