Don’t worry. The cat will want to go out as soon as you’re trying to go to sleep.

If he goes outside, he might get fleas or some other disease, and then you might have to take him to the vet. So he’s saving you money by not moving. Besides, he’ll get up when he gets hungry, or has to use his litterbox (we hope).

Sometimes, when the cat wants to go out, they really can’t make up their little minds. We had a cat that sat by the door wanting to go out. He would even meow to go out. Once the door was opened for him to go out, he would would sit 1/2 way in the doorway and couldn’t make up his mind if he really wanted to go out. A little nudge from a foot helped him make up his mind. Once out, however, he immediately wanted to come in. Cats can be indecisive.

Rumor has it that cats need 12-18 hours of sleep per day. He’s normal. Just a bit toward the 18 side over the 12. Most of my cats have been on the sleepy side but one, she was a monster of a mouser who probably slept only 12 hrs a day. Man should count his blessings.
