… actually, another strip came to mind, where Portnoy is the one with the Bat, and Opus, unfortunately is the ‘victim’ of the hedge hog’s ‘battery’ …whichPortnoy attributes to vice(s).Due to vice, he claims that he can’t be held accountable for his actions, either.
Put Oliver and Portnoy alone in a room together … clearly it’s no one’s fault as to what happens next. :P
(… a quick skim through two of the Bloom County Graphic Novels … reveals a PATTERN of ‘graphic’ cartoon violence heretofore unnoticed!)
Examples include:
Opus, campaigning too soon, being rewarded for his enthusiasm by being violently, viciously beaten with a broom, by an Iowan? perhaps? disgruntled housewife, then literally #tarredandfeathered by her husband!
Rosebud, attacked by Opus, no less, as he tries to learn how to play Polo.
Rosebud, in peril, when ‘Hunting Season’ starts …
… and I’m sure you all know of many, many other instances … I’m still playing ‘catch up’.
wonders2self if the cartoonist has ever attended court-mandated anger management classes? lol
