The Republicans have never really been the party of Christian values. But, they have sold that lie very successfully to their base. For at least the past two generations, Republicans have depended on the Religious Right types, who make up a huge part of their base, to send money and volunteer and they have been very dependable, despite the fact that very few of them have enough money that they were not working against their own best interests. For them, it didn’t have anything to do with economics or social welfare, because they were brainwashed into believing that the Republicans believed in the Family Values agenda.
Evangelicals are not as mindless as they appear to be. They really want the entire country to share their beliefs, or at least to act like they do. They don’t like abortions, and actually birth control, they want everyone to attend church and believe in Jesus, they want everyone to allow public prayer everywhere all the time. They would not allow any evidence of any other religion, or lack thereof to be displayed in public. That kind of thing is frightening to them and they really really hate it. And, they have somehow gotten the idea that Trump wants a Christian version of the Taliban in America. This is quite a reach, considering that he doesn’t attend church himself and has shown absolutely no morals according to the dictates of any religion.
It is amazing to see how many of these people who are, in their own minds at least, a moral shining light actually are not ashamed of the fact that they are avidly supporting a person who is reliably dishonest in his business dealings and has the Family Values credentials of an extremely active tomcat.
The Grand Old Party of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt has devolved into a personality cult. I have never voted Democrat, but I certainly will this year.
The demographics of the world’s population are changing. Birth/death/fertility rates are different than they once were and the majority/minorities are in flux everywhere.
A well-educated populace could deal with this and choose leaders — quiet/competent/problem-solving representatives with big brains instead of whiners/blamers with big mouths who accomplish nothing but are favored by the under-educated.
Weren’t the Hebrew homeless at that point and God kept them that way for the next 40 years? Then there was this young radical who at his bar mitzvah talked about God and God’s desires and was excommunicated from the Hebrew synagogue thus made homeless for the remainder of his life.
Traitor Trump worships one thing only—he cares about one thing only: his stupid dishonest cowardly worthless self. And the sheep can’t grasp that—far too complex for their tiny little minds.
Trump and Putin are collaborating to tear America apart. And Trump and his allies in Congress and across the spectrum of rightwing hate media aren’t even trying to hide it.
Americans aren’t used to thinking of our country as a battleground. We haven’t been invaded by another country’s military since the War of 1812 and haven’t seen blood shed on our soil in formal armed conflict since the Civil War.
are we with democracy, or will we elect Trump and join Russia, China, and North Korea in making the world safe for dictators?
In South Carolina last week Trump came right out and said that if he became president again he’d refuse to enforce Article 5 of the NATO treaty and let Putin take Poland or any other part of Europe he wants.
“I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want,” Trump said of Russian troops and their leader President Putin.
His comments drew an immediate rebuke from Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of NATO, who laid it out clearly:
“Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the US, and puts American and European soldiers at increased risk.”
Trump and his republican minions are open traitors to the USA.
