Excellent ’toon, echoing the spirit of the movie “Don’t Look Up.”

Republicans don’t want to solve problems, they want to block Democrats from solving them so then can then blame Democrats for not solving what they blocked.

Trump wanted to run on the economy, and even admitted he was hoping for a economic crash or at least the recession so many were predicting, but now that Biden raised an economic phoenix out of the economic ashes he inherited from Trump after his failed COVID response and capital and investment markets are at all-time highs, the longest period of unemployment below 4% in 60 years, inflation plummeting (and far lower than other countries), workers’ incomes up and outpacing inflation and labor unions on the rebound, Trump can’t run on that one.

Trump had promised “Infrastructure Week” almost every week when he was in the White House, but that never panned out. Biden got it done with the slimmest possible senate majority (50-50 with the VP tiebreaker) in his first two years, so Trump can’t run on that one either.

So now, Trump (who collapsed the aid programs that Clinton, Bush and Obama had built over decades that led to the lowest border crossings, and created desperate conditions that fueled the migrant surges) wants to run on fixing the border crisis that HE CAUSED. He is so determined to keep this issue dividing Americans that he and his Republican cronies repeatedly LIE and say that Biden has open borders and a “welcome mat” at the border, which is not true, but which encourages migrants to come en masse thinking they will be welcomed and admitted, thus fanning the border crisis flames.

Republicans have never cared about illegal immigration. Never.

    .

Like all ‘issues’, it is just one more thing for them to weaponize and LIE about.

    Like the economy.

    Like inflation.

    Like the deficit.

    Like the national debt.

    Like health care.

    Like infrastructure.

If you watched the hastily put together press conference last night you have got to be worried. Joe referred to the leader of Egypt as the leader of Mexico. Recently he’s referenced 2 people that he’s had meetings with that are dead. In the interview with the Special Council, He didn’t know the dates when he was V.P. or when his son died. You are officially “up the stream without a paddle”.

The clownshoe cluster of low-wattage underachievers known as the house republicans had another plan that crashed and burned among the wreckage of everything else they’ve tried.

They were gonna impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and then maybe, I don’t know, get reelected because of that??

Because, “we impeached a guy you never heard of” looks good in a campaign ad?

    Hilarious.

    But the best part"

To increase the republican odds, “squeaker” Johnson waited until Democratic Representative Al Green went to the hospital for surgery, then he scheduled the vote to take place.

Green showed up in the chamber, in a wheelchair, wearing a hospital gown, and voted up the measure, 215 to 215, and the republicans actually got mad, and said it wasn’t fair that Democrats had more votes!!!

And republican steve scalise was criticized because he was in the hospital too, for cancer treatment, but he didn’t show up in a wheelchair like Green did!!

    This actually happened!!!

And afterwards, of course, the republicans did what they do.

They hated on each other, and margerie tater greene accused the nay voters of taking bribes.

These new trump-enhanced republicans are funnier than the Three Stooges when Moe is slapping Curly, while Curly is poking fingers in Larry’s eyes, while Larry is hitting Moe in the head.

But not nearly as smart or likeable.

The flood of migrants has already hit under the open borders Biden regime. Now in the fourth year it’s become an election issue, so they want to pretend to do something about it

And more from conservative David Brooks:

“Lying is normal. Politicians always distort proposals they disagree with, but Trump has given his colleagues permission to make things up with abandon. In the hours after the package was released, Republican officeholders produced a Vesuvius of misinformation about what was in it.

Representative Steve Scalise asserted that the package “accepts 5,000 illegal immigrants a day.” No, actually it doesn’t, a Fox News reporter explained. Representative Dan Bishop asserted that undocumented immigrants “not from Mexico or Canada won’t be counted toward total encounters.” No, the financier Steven Rattner corrected, this provision refers only to unaccompanied minors, of whom very few arrive from noncontiguous countries. The president doesn’t need new laws to halt illegal immigration, Speaker Mike Johnson asserted. Then why did House Republicans go to all the trouble to pass H.R. 2 last year, an attempt to create an ambitious new law to halt illegal immigration?”

Gimme a hand here, people, more verses needed:

     Who Is He?

A lecher, a liar, an election denier.

    A taker, a faker, a financial book-baker.

    A berater, a traitor, a would-be dictator.

Ever wonder who actually clicks “like” below a trollish comment? Hover your cursor over the little number to the right of the heart and you’ll see that it’s all of its fellow trolls that probably share adjacent cots in the Kremlin cellar.

Of course migrants peacefully crossing a border in search of a better life are not equivalent to a biosphere-destroying asteroid, and buying into the Republican narrative that they are (“We tried to stop those awful people coming in like you said you wanted, and then you changed your tune”) is bad.
