No comments yet? None at ALL? (cricket … cricket) OK, I’ll step up … who is this unnamed “They” you refer to? American republicans, or Americans in general? Jews? Israelies in general? The Arab world? Conservative cartoonists?
An article in the current issue of Time shows the long history of the U.S. stopping Israel each time they’ve gone too far, and Israel counting on the U.S. to stop them, so the Israeli politicians can blame the U.S. for their own failures.
We are hated because we are the inheritors of the colonialist legacy. We’ve tried to make it a “soft landing”, but it ain’t easy. “The West” has been both aggressor and defender since before Thermopylae. One thing is clear: Donald Trump is NOT the answer.
As a supporter of two states, I’d rather invest in rebuilding Gaza for the Palestinian people (not Hamas). But as an armchair observer I don’t see any quick and easy solutions. Both sides hands are bloody.

Only the uninformed. Funding for Israel by the U.S. is in Laws made in congress since 1948.
