Caught the latest DMZ, which had special guest, Mississippi cartoonist, Marshall Ramsey, a few key reveals…….1. The Republicans own Mississippi ………….. ok only one key reveal……………. Ted did fail to ask Ramsey the most important question, which is why he posts so few pieces …………… on a separate note, I’d like to take the time to remind everyone that Ted HAS complimented right-wing nutter, Dick Wright’s cartooning, especially in light of Wright’s 9 Nov piece on Rashida Tlaib.
Did you complain when Syrians killed Palestinians??? When the PA did? there’s many other examples when no one said anything but I don’t know how to attach the email.
As Obama recently pointed out, no one’s hands are clean in this mess nor is there a simple solution for it. In a way it’s just continuation of proxy conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa and includes players such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, as well as the usual contingent of USA, Russia and China.
On my way to work yesterday I was listening to an interview on NPR with a general who had worked on Gen. Petraeus’ staff in Afghanistan. He had been tasked with writing the Army manual on insurgencies, taken the lessons they learned in our time there. The IDF had invited him to Israel to discuss the current situation. He gave them three pieces of advice.
First. There is no military solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The IDF will undoubtedly defeat Hamas, but it will be very costly in terms of casualties, particularly on civilians. All that will be accomplished will be Hamas 2.0, more radical, more deadly. He pointed out that Hezbollah and ISIS are both responses to military interventions in the Middle East. All Israel’s military response is doing is making more militants.
Second. To police Gaza will take 40,000 troops (the US Army has a formula for this, boots on the ground vs population numbers). He doubted Israel has the means or the stomach for that commitment.
Third. Talk to Hamas. You don’t need to convince your friends, you need to convince your enemies. He said that the Israelis absolutely refused to do that, which he found shocking. And that is really the issue.
You said it all – again – today, Ted. Never ceases to amaze me how you can cram so much satire, humor, common sense and factual comments in one comic strip…
Well, that’s all wrong. Biden has the same policy as Obama did, with the U.S. totally committed to Israel’s right to exist made in 1948. But like Obama, Biden has issue with Netanyahu’s expanding Israel’s borders with settlements in areas agreed to in 1948 not be settled. Further, Biden has held Netanyahu back from his initial war plans, and made Netanyahu backtrack to the 4 hour ‘rest’ periods in Gaza. Netanyahu’s bosom buddies are Republican/conservatives, not Biden, Obama or Democrats in general.
Netanyahu’s policies of sending settlers in areas that were agreed to not be settled violates agreements made since 1948. It is ‘Hitleresque’ in Netanyahu needing “more elbow room”. Netanyahu brought this latest terrorist attack on with his policies.
Old Joe is in a real mud hole right now. Any way you move you get sucked in even deeper, I doubt his staff saw this splintering of his base coming. A real LBJ style meltdown when Democrats lose college weinies and leftists. Will Joe run……
It’s obvious to all but the most biased people that Biden and Blinken are twisting arms behind the scenes while publicly supporting Israel. A 4-hour “pause” every day is no small feat. How about a little credit where it is due?
Ted Rall, do you really think the talks behind the scenes are cordial? If you have been paying attention, President Biden has not been supportive of Netanyahu. He has been supportive of Israel, after they were attacked. He has warned Netanyahu almost immediately NOT to repeat the mistakes of going into Gaza in the heat of anger, without a plan. He even compared it to invading Iraq after 9/11.
I see that President Biden gets a lot more done behind the scenes, without bragging or broadcasting his plans. So far, the results for other issues have been impressive.
Give him a little more time to work on this Middle East problem. It HAS been in existence for a very long time.
Everyone seems to want a sledgehammer solution that breaks everything up, instead of listening and working with all parties to make a workable solution that will last.
“In honor of our great veterans on Veteran’s Day, we pledge to you that we will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists, and radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country. Lie, steal, and cheat on elections, and will do anything possible, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America, and the American dream,” he wrote.
“The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave, than the threat from within. Despite the hatred and anger of the radical left lunatics who want to destroy our country, we will make America great again.”

This cartoon is pure Ted Rall — uncompromising dark humor. Makes me nostalgic for the old Iraq War cartoons!

I’ve just found this gem of an article by the Jewish folk singer Leon Rosselson, whom I greatly admire. It’s from 2021 but perectly relevant now.
