Historians will note that Mr. Reagan was the person whose policies sent thousands of mentally ill patients onto the streets, and his Republican colleagues have gone out of their way to underfund, well, everything related to health, whether mental or physical.
And, just for fun, which party in control of which states’ legislatures is continually loosening restrictions on purchases and open and concealed carry?
And when bad Republican policy comes home to roost, what to do? Blame Democrats, of course.
40 year old trained firearms instructor, Army reserve, and committed to a mental health facility this summer.
Robert Card this summer had threatened to carry out a mass shooting at the base, police said.
Red flag laws would prevent the majority of these shootings. The nra & gop fight tooth and nail against any and all controls and enforcement, equating it with total bans. All for the enrichment of manufacturers and for their weak cowardly males, they gladly sacrifice the innocent.
I live in Colorado, we have a red flag law, and a list of 10-15 county sheriffs that refuse to enforce it. Guess what color the county votes??
Dana, are you suggesting a portion of the national budget go to mental health services? If not how do you propose the Mental Health Crisis response gets funded?
Yep, the republican party sure does have mental health issues. Particularly so when Americans start to ask for Congress to pass sensible gun regulations.
If you’re a right wing gun nut, armed to the teeth, with a whole social group of similar people then your mental health episode is likely to be rather more dangerous than if you’re a cat loving vegan who writes poetry and votes Green Party
Someone with Trump Disciple analysis skills like Summers is absolutely incapable of making any connection between the proliferation of guns, especially assault* weapons, and the amount of gun violence.
He’s had major mental health challenges this summer as well as “hearing voices” most recently. The state of Maine has a “yellow flag” (as opposed to a red flag) warning system. Maine’s yellow flag law, which allows police and prosecutors to seek a court order restricting the ability of people who have threatened to harm themselves or others to access dangerous weapons. If we used laws on the books, we wouldn’t have to take guns from law abiding citizens.
Here’s the latest “good guy with a gun” who turned out to not be one. And he won. He doesn’t care if he lives or dies. He got publicity, he closed down a city, his name is in all the news papers/sites…. He won big time.
now draw one where the Elephants are sitting on the couch with the mental illness being ignored until the gun argument comes up and they start to talk about it. They won’t do anything to help that problem in between because they don’t want to do anything to help!!!!!!
Republicans care about mental health! That’s why they deny funding for it so they can shove more money into the pockets of billionaires! Good thing the GQP has done so much for homeless vets with PTSD!! Oh…they never have, and never will? NEVER MIND
The GOP has mastered the art of blaming the Dems for GOP policies going sideways. This is the symptom; people vote to put the GOP in office, based on these lies.

No one shoots up a bowling alley with their mental illness. They use a firearm.

Another nut job. Not a gun nut. Skilled and armed but still a nut. He shows up on my front porch, game over.
