Come on. You’re smart enough to be able read the news. You know the money was what South Korea paid them for oil and remains restricted in how it can be used.

So, Ramirez, you would rather have kept them in captivity? Really? How hateful is that?

The only country that has used an atomic weapon, wants too restrict other countries from having atomic weapons. Oh the hypocrisy.

Meanwhile the House Hostage Emporium is preparing to launch the mother of all shutdowns, costing American taxpayers billions with the sole purpose of damaging the US economy for political gain.

Anyone know just what those Americans were doing in Iran in the first place?

I’m old enough to remember when women in Iran wore regular clothes, attended school and college, worked outside the home, and had rights.

“In the decades before the Islamic revolution of 1979, Iran was ruled by the Shah, whose dictatorship repressed dissent and restricted political freedoms.

But he also pushed the country to adopt Western-oriented secular modernization, allowing some degree of cultural freedom.

Under the Shah’s rule, Iran’s economy and educational opportunities expanded. Britain and the US counted Iran as their major ally in the Middle East, and the Shah forcefully industrialized large segments of the country.

But the Shah’s increasingly authoritarian measures and his eventual dismissal of multiparty rule set the stage for the infamous revolution."

My cousins worked with the Peace Corps in Iran pre-Ayatollah. Wasn’t perfect but more freedom than nowadays. Always the women pay the price… losing freedoms and being controlled. Patriarchy.

    And so it goes…

France was our ‘enemy’ for over 150 years [1620 – 1776]

    The U.K., ‘enemies’ for 70 years [1776 – 1846]

Japan, a ‘friend’ for 85 years[1855 – 1939], an ‘enemy’ for a few years, and now a ‘friend’ again

Likewise for Spain, Germany, Canada, Cuba, Italy – the list goes on and on, you’d need two historians and an atlas to keep it straight.

Vietnam is a valued anti-China trading partner with us now. Even our erstwhile archenemy Russia was our ‘friend’ for a couple of years.

Iran is no different. Our governments have no reasons to trust each other, and that is natural under the circumstances.

But we always [eventually] find a way to stop butchering one another and live in relative peace. Sometimes the way is total war; sometimes the way is diplomatic deal making.

I’m going with the lesser of the two weevils.

As was done under the Obama Administration, Iran’s funds were released to them over Iran’s vehement objections that we kept all the interest those funds earned and put it in our Treasury.

A lot of truth here. They are going to pick up new hostages starting next week. They have been doing it for years.

Time to panic? I think so! BTW – Don’t forget, the W.P. is no friend to conservatives. An ABC/Washington Post poll that found former President Trump ahead of President Biden by 10 points among registered voters in a hypothetical rematch. Some criticized the Post and said they were dismissing the poll, published on Sunday, as it was very unfavorable towards the president.Talk about getting their panties in a bunch.
