Five times as long? Not in my experience. Assuming a 2.5 month summer vacation, that makes the school year only 3.8 times longer. That doesn’t even take into account the time off for things like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break.
Samuel Comroe made Tourette’s funny when he appeared on America’s Got Talent. Some of the funniest bits I’ve seen were by “disabled” people who turned their “inability” into “Ability” by making jokes about it. Some guy named Lee, who could not speak, actually WON Britain’s Got Talent when he typed his jokes into a recording device and, with perfect timing, pushed the right buttons at the right time.
Most of my grandkids are out of high school so I do not know how long school is nowadays, but when I was in school, you only went 180 out 365 days. Meanwhile I now work 226 days a year. (I get ten holidays and 25 personal leave days out of 261 week days per year)
The school year in the USA is generally 180 days. In Japan it’s 240 days. When I was looking that up, Dr. Google helpfully informed me as well that “In most schools, students bring a box lunch from home, almost always consisting of foods prepared by the mother in the early morning hours.” So not only are there more days, each one tends to be more of a “do it yourself” proposition. (I didn’t have the heart to ask how much homework they get assigned over and above the classtime.)

If I remember, it’s 180 days, which is just under half the year.

This year lots of students attended summer school to make up for post-Covid learning deficits.

I get those, too, although usually in the form of “on the other hand”(s) which may lead to wondering how many hands I have.

Why do we still need summer vacation? Only 10% of kids work on farms which is why it was implemented in the first place…

I had to stop and laugh about this one for a while!
