When you have dietary restrictions, planning around meals is essential…pack food with you or research any restaurants on the route so you are prepared. Fast foods in general are no goes. Making a mistake can mean a situation involving inconvenience all the way up to danger.
Dan looks in the last panel like he’s jumping the fourth wall and addressing the reader directly. So, to answer your question, Dan, yes, we had noticed that. It makes perfect sense to us.
It sounds like you disapprove, Dan. Can’t really see the problem here, though. Nothing in the least wrong with a travel schedule being influenced by food. In fact, it would be a dream vacation for me to get a list of all the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives places that are still in operation and do a food road trip. What a blast that would be!
There is a book that was first published in the late 1970s titled Roadfood. I think it’s still being published. there is a tv show be the same name. You might be able to find other places along with the DQ to enjoy on your trip.
The trick is balancing out all the snacks you buy for the road with the food stops along the way. Follow me for more Food/Travel snacks… I mean, hacks.

As it should be… (a travel schedule based on food.)
I like Amanda’s father. Very colorful. Did Gramps pass away?

I couldn’t help but read that last panel as being somebody disqualified in a rugby march, and thought “silly American, it’s called being sent off”.
