On the Indian reservation here they sell wicked fireworks but you cannot transport them off the reservation. Nobody would do that! ;-)
Plenty of firecrackers could be bought in “China Town” when I was a kid. Once I negotiated buying one gross of bottle rockets to be redistributed, for a small arbitrage fee, in my neighborhood. With the proceeds I bought a ‘44 War Surplus Cushman scooter. My Dad disapproved but let me keep it. He figured I couldn’t get gasoline out in the country, miles from town….but……I learned to siphon…..
Fireworks are just another stupid tradition that is an excuse to make noise. People are injured every year. The professional displays are beautiful, though.
I was with some people in a sand pit on the beach in Santa Barbara one year. We had waited over an hour for the fireworks to start. Suddenly, with a sizzle and a boom, started the most intense display of fireworks I had ever seen. For five minutes, it was color, flash, smoke and noise with no pause between and, just as suddenly, it stopped.
We were puzzled until we heard the fire engines. The fireworks had caught fire on the pier.
Since then, nothing can compare, and I have no interest in seeing a lesser display. :)

Just another way to pollute the atmosphere. And the rivers, eventually.

A ringing endorsement if I ever heard one.

Fireworks should be banned. PTSD sufferers and dogs agonize over them. Their torture is inhumane.

The real loud ones make me very uncomfortable. Too much like being in a war zone. Horrible.

Almost like the time I thought that I had scored a great spot to plant our blanket at an outdoor concert…right in front of the speakers!

The same thing happened to Rod Stewart, which inspired the song:" Tinnitus The Night(Gonna Be Alright)".

Blowing stuff up and making lots of noise and smoke is as american as Apple pie.

Poor old Moonie!
You’re lucky you didn’t blow your brains out! (You didn’t, did you?)
