It is not just in their cruelty to LGBTQIA+ people that the right-wing extremist Talibangelical Christofascists betray the teachings of universal, unconditional love and compassion attributed to their nominal founder (with acknowledgment that Jesus was more than suspiciously a single guy [discounting Dan Brown’s theories] who lived and roamed nomadically with twelve other guys and never once spoke a recorded word against such same-sex intimacy…), but beyond that, every aspect of modern conservative evangelical “Christianity” (alt-Christianity; hypochristians) is the polar opposite of what Jesus reportedly taught.

Help the poor? Feed the hungry? WELFARE STATE!

    Heal the sick? SOCIALIZED MEDICINE

    Welcome the foreigner? OPEN BORDERS!

    .

The love of money is the root of all evil?

The love of money is the core of their “prosperity gospel.”

    .

Jesus drove out the money changers.

Today’s conservative evangelical “Christians” ARE the money changers.

The conservative wing of “Christianity” does not follow Jesus, they follow the renegade “apostle” Paul, who completely contradicted Jesus on every key point of doctrine, theology, law, morality and ethics.

Conservative “Christians” follow Paul, who opposed almost everything Jesus ever taught.

Liberal Christians try to follow Jesus.

For specific examples including chapter-and-verse references (so “Christians” can find them in their very own Bibles) that the conservative cherry-pickers don’t include in their Sunday School lessons as to how Paul (more “apostate” than apostle) contradicts Jesus on every key point of doctrine, theology, law, morality and ethics:

There have been people in those categories since before we were humans, near as I can tell. And, near as I can tell, the RongWingers are using them as their new blacks. Except the ones who just hammer at EVERYBODY without any sign of empathy.

    Nicely done, sir!

Other comics have made this point. Chuckle A Duck did some time back when it showed a man complaining to God that “we were being punished by Him because of the gays”. God confirmed it, whereupon the man exclaimed, “I knew it!”

God said, “No, You’re being punished for the crappy way you’re treating them.”

Mind you, I had to paraphrase because of this site’s algorithm. (And now, off to do the Algorithm March. Yes, I watch a lot of NHK-World, and as a result, Pythagora Switch.)

Why would anyone want to be a modern church-going Christian? All they ever do is judge and make people feel less and worse about themselves. The Church has failed in its true Christian mission. Time to bury it and move on.

There was no LBGTQ+ community in those times! What cruelty are Gays suffering in present day America? It seems to me they have been lionized.

Nice bit on this in The West Wing, Season 2 Episode 3. Check YouTube for “Bartlet and Bible” or “Bartlet owns religious nut.”

What would Jesus do? Certainly not what a large number of Christians are doing… or have done throughout history.

    More like embracing it:

Deuteronomy 22:5 ESV“A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.

Second Jesus never said anything about homosexuality but did say a lot about sex in general. So why isn’t ok for a man to step out on his wife or some guy with a lot of other women, but it is ok for those of the same sex to do so?

And yes that is what we are talking about!

Jesus commanded “…to love one and other as I have loved you.” He wanted you to act compassionately, not demand the government to do it and absolve you of acting.

As I have asked and have not received an answer yet, name one person or group Jesus turned his back on. For those claiming to be Christion and anti-Semitic, where on earth do you think Jesus was from, as you claim hatred for the people in the Middle East?

I’m not going out on a limb, most, if not all of the evangelical/christian movement betrayed Jesus (as the stories are written) a long time ago. I don’t think we need to just pick one.

Many of the christians today are actually followers of the really heartless, patriarchal, hierarchal god from the Old Testament. Jesus was IMO a philosopher, a mortal, who attempted to bring equality to his little part of the world. Once the patriarchs in the West got ahold of his sermons, they twisted his words to fit their cruelty.

If the LGBTQ-Anon crowd would just keep the “sexual orientation” stuff away from children and quit trying to force it into elementary schools, there would be no problem.

Maybe we SHOULD go after the Christian vote. Anti Woke is Anti Jesus. (or at least ALL of his teachings) Or how about this one? “Jesus was Woke!” “Are You?”.
