The Tarahumara, or self-called Rarámuri, of Chihuahua Mexico have little problem running amazing distances in sandals. • Ever read the book _Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seenby Christopher McDougall, Fred Sanders, et al.???
I know a barefoot ultra runner, you can wear sandals if you really really want to. Also, I’m not much of an ultra runner, but I have run an ultra, and I’m not that lean.
One is a Pearls Before Swine; panel one, a muscle-head says “I do crossfit.” A sprouts-and-granola chick answers “I’m a vegan.” Second panel they stand there silently. Third is the first again.
The other is by B. Kliban; a bodybuilder posing on a sidewalk, and casting a Barbie-like shadow.
There is an Ultra Marathon run in California in July, that starts in Death Valley at an elevation of -282 ft. and ends 135 miles later on Mt. Whitney at elevation of 8,360. BTW the average daytime high in Death Valley in July is 116F. Amazingly there have been no fatalities so far.

Any kind of body training brings health benefits. A good mix of exercises and activities covers all the bases.

This puts me to mind of 2 comics:
One is a Pearls Before Swine; panel one, a muscle-head says “I do crossfit.” A sprouts-and-granola chick answers “I’m a vegan.” Second panel they stand there silently. Third is the first again.
The other is by B. Kliban; a bodybuilder posing on a sidewalk, and casting a Barbie-like shadow.

Marathoners don’t have a lot of muscles, but they have very good ones.
