The first step is recognising it’s gone.

I’ve had that very thing happen a few times. I thought the weight had returned but the truth is it felt lighter and is still getting lighter the more I let go of stuff. My latest breakthrough was accepting the fact that I am responsible for my actions and the choices I made that I felt weren’t my fault. After making amends, not through 12 steps mind you, I had so much more peace! I still have apologetic rehearsals in my head but it’s getting easier to dismiss them.

I have been going through a bit of this myself lately. Finally getting some help for some health and emotional issues, and the vacancy of the symptoms that have plagued me for my whole life has been a little disconcerting, to say the least. I am finding I have to reorientate myself and find my footing again. It feels a little like something is missing, and it is, but it is funny how it feels so odd. Curious how we become so accustomed to dis-ease, that when it’s gone, at first it feels wrong. Deep ruts can be a dangerous thing.
