I was six years old when WW2 ended and I remember the excitement amongst the older kids that bubble gum would once more be available.
Take a trip to the Horse Head Ttavern and stick that gum under the bar top for later.

Reminds me of my test for dates. I take her for a walk and offer her a stick of gum. If she turns it down without stopping, she passes. It means she can walk and eschew gum at the same time. :) :) :)
