That sums it up, next step is to stop reading lessons at schools in case the wrong ideas filter through.

How dare the owner of intellectual property get to decide how said intellectual property is edited and sold!

I’ve been waiting for a cartoonist to point this out. Thanks, Clay! But, really, it’s not that at all: It’s just that Republicans love to hate. No matter what you do, if you’re not orange-nosing, (and maybe if if you are), they just know that you’re in the WRONG and that makes them feel a little better.

Darrin Bell, points out that “wokening” the books means kids don’t get to see how a famous author wasn’t perfect and thus lose an opportunity to learn. I dunno that I care.

I am on board with Salman Rushdie on this one. Censorship is censorship. If something very disturbing was printed generations ago, the best thing to do is explain how the idea or concept is flawed and learn from it, not cancel it all together. Disgusting reads like The Turner Diaries should be available to show the new generations how twisted the alt right was and still is. They just changed their klan robes and skinhead black shirts for business suits and social media.

How long until Florida passes legislation to make Christianity (Southern Baptist, of course) the state religion and starts burning non-believers at the stake?

Jones and friends are trying very hard to convince each other someone other than Republicans are responsible for censoring books.

This makes me want to puke! Fascists are acting like little Hitlers…what’s worse is they’re gaining more ignorant followers…check out rural Ohio and they’re Nazi lessons they’re teaching the kids….scary!

No one stopped Hitler as he rampaged the country, and look what happened? The Holocaust ….And NOW no one is stopping these groups…

Does Freedom, justice, and liberty mean anything anymore in America?

The DeSantis School Book Burning is being planned to celebrate his Big Announcement. Remember, per his TV ad he’s been anointed Jesus’ hand-picked cultural warrior here on earth and we need to follow him or spend eternity with liberals!

Charles Darwin predicted the rise of the Unwoke right wing.

“At some stage, the Human Species will divide. Whilst most will continue to evolve, a minority of those lacking the intellectual capacity of thought, will develop as a sub-species. Being easily lead, form into packs attempting to control the majority. They will deny biology, attempt to undo the centuries of human development by re-writing history, and gradually revert to their Primate Origins. They will expect all to conform to their point of view without question.”

Buddha simply said: “I am awake.” Buddha means “the awakened one.” How to awaken is all he taught.

Buddha’s political thinking parallels Western liberal-democratic thought with its emphasis on equal rights, protection against tyranny via equality before the law, and participatory and deliberative governance.

I’m sad to say that the bowdlerizers (moral monitors who want to re-edit books of the past to not include words they don’t approve of) are back again. Last time was in the 50s. They’ve been cropping up since the mid-1700s since Thomas Bowdler published his expurgated version of Shakespeare’s plays. He, his sister and his son spent their lives ‘cleaning up’ literature that didn’t need cleaning. Now, if the moral monitors would kindly crawl back under their rocks and die, that would be a genuine service to society.
