When campaigning, they don’t spend time whining about Lego sets, or cartoon candy mascots, or Dr. Seuss, or Mr. Potato-Head, or Twitter, or the victimization of the white Christian male in the US. They save that for when they’re actually in power and are expected to work. Whining about specifics of Madonna’s facelift would actually be a step up for them.

There’s a lot of stuff ‘ingrown’ in D.C. Comes from building in a swamp without bothering to drain it first.

Next in the ever ongoing culture wars spilling over into dairy life: Why yogurt brands are lactose intolerant. Is it a Borden’s issue? There’s rising discontentment among cows! Something must be done — or Elsie foreign competeitors will milk it for all it’s worth! It’s udderly disgraceful!

in the 80’s madonna rattled conventions now she’s just become the conventionality she strove against and seems to be an empty ballroom away from moving to Sunset Blvd.

IMHO, we should peer behind all this smoke and mirrors being generated by the Representatives who supported the J6 insurrection. The Jim Jordan’s, Gosar etal. In their attempts to create culture wars to distract the voters and keep them stirred up. Where are the bills to help Americans prepare for the next pandemic, for example?

Who cares whether or not Madonna had a face lift? The important question is whether or not she can still sing.

It was a train mishap, worse than a lot but not as bad as some. They happen about 4 a day. Fact is the president called the governor asked what he needed governor says we’re good. They have kept in touch. EPA was on the site in something like 2 hours, NTSB is there, apparently FEMA has supported as requested by the governor. Having politicians show up for photo shoots and sound bites helps no one. The one thing we did learn, apparently the GOP are scared witless of Pete.

    About the train derailments:

The fact is that all rail companies have done the numbers and it seems that the cost of insurance against train derailments is lower than keeping a large enough work force to constantly repair the rails and railcars. The rails and rail stock are not maintained regularly, and are only repaired after such a derailment.

It’s all in the pursuit of those infernal bonuses for the management when costs of doing business are cut to the bone.

Rail companies have admitted the same in a round about way as far back as thirty years ago, when the derailments have started to mushroom. They all said that all the derailments are covered by insurance, so they don’t have to keep as large a work force to maintain the rails and it’s just too bad that a derailment happens in a populated area, since most of them happen in the open country…
