Conservatives hate teachers unions because conservatives want teachers to be obedient, subservient lickspittles who unquestioningly deliver approved ideology.
Heaven forbid that teachers have any say about curriculum. Parents have the right to express their opinions, but so do teachers. When I taught high school classes I had about 120 students per day. Each of those students had parents and grandparents, and all of them had different opinions about what should be taught. Chaos. Whatever you say is going to offend at least one of those people. All you can do is teach the facts that have been proven.
When the majority of students in Democratically controlled cities are reading 3 to 5 years below grade level, in a good year, the we need to confront and demand better from our educators. Educate children, do not indoctrinate them-CRT, BLM etc!!! Little Johnie and Little Kwame BOTH need to be able to read, to express themselves in writing and be able to understand mathematics!! Critical thinking and reasoning should supplant political/social indoctrination!!
As a teacher in California, though not currently a member of the CTA, I find this cartoon insulting. While Gov. Newsome owes his office in part to the support of the CTA, he’s certainly not their puppet. Teachers are the largest profession in most states, having their support goes a long way to political victory. But frankly, we’d support anyone who is on our side and republicans are not.
What I find really disturbing is the insinuation that I hate parents and this thing about transvestites (really?). I teach math. The topic never comes up. In fact it rarely comes up in any class. We don’t indoctrinate any one. I teach them how to figure out a tip or haw to solve logarithms. We teach them how to read and how to understand what they read. We try to teach them how to get along with each other. What I hear from the comments here is political babble and bat guano crazy conspiracy theory.
Anyone here who doesn’t like the job we do, I urge you to get the proper credentials and step up. We have a teacher shortage (can’t imagine why).
I’ve been a teacher, one way or another, all my working life—about fifty years. Teaching is hard work. It’s also important work. I’ve taught mostly in universities, never in the elementary or secondary systems. The job of elementary and secondary school teachers I’m sure is harder than university teaching. I taught only students who wanted to be there, whereas teachers in the elementary and secondary schools have to teach everyone. Their hard work should be respected and rewarded. In the US (and, I’m sorry to say, Canada) they are mostly given the crumbs.
Anyone or any entity that backs freethinking teachers and students has my complete backing as well. Prevention of the narrow minded from making decisions on how public education funds are distributed needs to be a major American direction. Time to get rid of the extremist textbook editors in politics.

Parents, with no education of their own, are demanding a say in how their children are educated.
What could go wrong?

Nope I think every Democratic Governor is a puppet of the Teachers union, it’s been proven in California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico & New York.

Republican philosophy: When faced with the inability to defend your own ideology, go directly to whataboutism’s and Ad-Hominem attacks.
