I had a visiting cat once, had been my cousins cat, now living almost completely outside. he would go to the door and let out his gravely voice what sounded like… OUT! he had learned that if he knocked over the trash can he’d get put outside, so if you didn’t open the door…… down went the can. he was a great cat, he just had the wrong humans as a kitten. we had a good relationship. he could come and go as he pleased. shelter, warmth, food. he kept my long ago kitten Nadia company, and she loved him.
No worries, Mittens…my sis’s boss Lou is 14 lbs. of Majestic Beast (not fat, just a Big Boi, possibly part Bengal) & has the tiniest meow & purr. He’s the strong silent type!
When you speak, you hear your own voice both through the air and through all the hollow sinus bones in your head. When you hear a recording, you only hear through the air. That’s why most people say their voice sounds different the first time they put on a hearing aid and hear more through the air than through the bones.

Relax, Mittens. No mere human-devised electronic contrivance can possibly capture and play back the full glories of your voice.

I bet in his head it sounds like a Lion’s roar

Get one of those protective ruff collars. It acts as a megaphone. :)

Our tiny little tortie has a voice like a duck call while the biggest one has a mew up in the range of dog whistles. Weird.

Meow from your diaphragm. You’re a mammal so I’m assuming you have one.

Ditto on that Mittens. My voice sounds quite a bit lower to me than it is on any recording.
