Despite being a compulsive organizer, I find if I move something to a much more logical spot, later I can’t find the item and keep looking for it in the old bad spot! Argh.- but the answer to your mystery is that pens know how to walk……

I think there is a small black hole in my studio that swallows up anything put away in a “safe space”.

Try looking for something else, something entirely unrelated. That’s when they will show up.

“Organization system” lol. I often find stuff by stopping looking for it.. well because sometimes right in the middle of looking for it I forget what I’m looking for anyway. Stuff like that. :oD

How many times I’ve also said, “oh, this makes sense” :)

I’ve often used my drafting pens for writing. After I’ve unclogged them because I didn’t clean them after the last use. The Ruling pens, not so much. There are three complete drafting sets… somewhere. Not that I need them anymore, but the tools (toys) are so cool.

Yep, “this makes sense,” or “I’ll be sure to remember them here” are cues to your brain to immediately forget where you put something.

Never put anything in the logical place. Yo will never find it, unless you buy more and then it appears right in front of you or when you don’t need it.

I waste many hours searching for stuff that I’ve hidden from myself.

Try looking on the floor behind the computer desk. That’s where all my writing implements seem to end up thanks to a certain little cat(Sherman). Yes, he’s one of those cats that knock everything off of things.

I find myself buying stuff I already have because I can’t find it till after I’ve placed the order or after the stuff arrives.

This happens to my drawing pens, too…hmmm…well, I just blame the cats and buy more!

My Sniglets book called that Camelost: something that is lost after you put it in a safe place so you won’t lose it.

I guess that she’s forgetful too because she forgot that she’d already done the lettering for this strip.

In looking for something that was ‘lost’, I found a label maker that I had totally forgotten about (about 20 years) and now it resides in the pantry on a shelf labeled (of course) Label Maker. The pantry shelves are labeled now and as I find like things, they go into plastic shoe boxes and labeled, or cardboard or whatever is available and hand written shiping tape adhered to the box. The New Year’s Resolution has not been broken so far, it has been one month and the system is working. Oh, my I have found so many duplicates, I could open my own Office Depot.
