I wrote one to the electrician the other day. First one in years — I had to think about how to do it. Pay to the order of Mr. Electricity — one dollar and NINE CENTS.

A year late and a dollar short.

I’m old school enough that I still go with a paper check instead of direct deposit

I cash it right away when I get it so I can actually see the money

My wife pays the bills, but we aren’t so old school we still use checks

She uses a cash card, hard to hack and there’s never more on it than we need at the time

I write at least one a month.
