The Repubs strangling of federal agencies bears more rotten fruit. They have done the same with the IRS. But they are the ones complaining loudest about agency performance issues when equipment is outmoded and there aren’t enough staff.
The GQP wants to make the US Govt small enough to drown in a bathtub, and then they complain when an agency is choking. Yesterday’s FAA ground stop lasted 90 minutes.
This is what happens when you unregulated an industry. It’s what republicans have been cheering for decades. Allowing Boeing to investigate itself after multiple crashes. Enjoy the fruits of your labor, Ramirez.
Too bad that Ramirez didn’t identify the source of the problem … our Congress which refuses to fund government agencies ( USPS, EPA, FAA, FDA, etc. ) so that they can properly execute their responsibilities….
The FY FAA 2023 Budget request, which was approved, is for nearly $24 billion. It includes more than $3 billion for Facilities and Equipment, equal to the FY 2022 CR level.
The below is directly form the FAA Budget request:
“This funding level allows the FAA to make continued investments to safeguard the most complex blah blah blah… (blahs are mine).
ConclusionThe FAA’s budget request for FY 2023 embodies the Administration’s priorities ofmitigating climate change and increasing equity. It will also enable continuedinvestments to safeguard and modernize the most complex airspace in the world."
More funding is not the solution to bureaucratic malaise and incompetence. The money is there to make sure the most basic functions of the FAA are well taken care of, plus some. But, in their own words, they are just as concerned with equity and climate as their legislatively mandated functions. They’re probably kicking ar$e on the equity priority, though, so there’s that.
And Democrats have absolutely no blame in this, right? Several lefties making idiotic and baseless comments about how we don’t understand the complexities of the situation. Let me clue you in, I don’t need to know the complexities of the auto industry to drive my car. As a traveler I don’t need to know the complexities of the airline industry. I pay them to do that when I buy a ticket to fly. The only thing I need to understand is when they fail to get me to my destination on time barring substantiated circumstances beyond their control, weather and such. I do my job to make the money to utilize their services, do their job. They fail and I’m free to say anything I want regarding their incompetence and that includes the failed mayor SOT Buttigieg whose only qualification for the job was a rainbow D by his name. Get it?
there would be money for things like these if the left wasn’t trying to take over health care, change children’s sex, abort half the children in the world(yes we send money overseas for abortion), go green, go woke, go digital cash, go bringing million of the poor into this country we can’t support, add your own, I know there’s more.

Old equipment and nobody smart enough to know COBOL. Error checking fails on a bad file input and the whole thing rumbles to a stop.{+_+}

But, but we might have to find some money to (taxes?) to upgrade the FAA’s obsolete systems. Not on our agenda for this session of congress.

It’s funny watching conservatives like Ramirez imagine themselves competent enough to understand the complexities of the airline industry.

If only the previous administration had invested in the FAA upgrades rather than a dumba$$ wall, this problem would have been avoided completely.

Hmmm. I wonder why you didn’t mention the reason that the FAA isn’t adequately funded?

Hey, we’re spending all our money on illegals, social programs, defense, pork projects, etc.. We can’t be spending money on updating the FAA systems.

Better to spend money looking for and investigating the elusive laptop rather than on the FAA.
