Wages are up, but they are still being outpaced by greedflation-driven price increases.

Too bad America no longer enforces its anti-trust laws. The “free” market sure could use some competition right about now.

Bit too simplistic Al, where would wages be if the repubs were in office? Below rock bottom I suspect without any rises in years.

There has been no real rise for workers since the 1970’s, and we’re times more productive. Like the 1920’s, the wealth has been rising to the top, the middle class has been shrinking, and welfare for the wealthy has also been rising. Holy Calvin Coolidge!

But gas prices are down, and that’s what you were griping about when wages were up higher than they were 12 months prior. All this does is prove that you only know how to complain which makes you essentially useless.

The “President”, no matter who, cannot change or control global labor costs. Blaming the “President” is an exercise in futility.

And neither Mr. Goodman nor his GOP associates have a solution either.

Al is in favor of a Wage/Price Spiral apparently. Come on, Al – spill! How are you personally going to profit from that? What’s your secret? What? TRUMP NFT’s???

    Never mind.

There are three types of lies, lies, darned lies(really, GoComics) and statistics. Mr. Goodwynn is guilty of all three.

The truth is that the first half of 2022 inflation was beating wages. The second half of the year wages were beating inflation. Currently inflation is 7.1%. It was 9% in June. That averages out to 8%, but it is an encouraging trend.

Presidents can do little about the economic forces that drive inflation and wages. That’s really on Congress – they can write laws that increase the minimum wage and they control gov’t spending, a factor in inflation). But the president will get the blame for the bad times and take credit for the good.

Here are the year over year data on wages and inflation looking back to when Biden started and from one year ago:

    Jan ’21: wages up 5.3%, inflation up 1.4% —

Nov ’21: wages up 5.3%, inflation up 6.8% – wages the same, inflation goes up, real wages are down —

Nov ’22: wages up 5.1%, inflation up 7.1% – wages drop, inflation goes up, real wages are down—

Biden is correct that inflation is easing but he’s looking at a very small sample set of data. It’s a little early for spiking the ball.
