The political climate in this country is frightening. Just read this morning about that idiot, Lauren Boebert, being a “Christian Nationalist”. Now I’m actually scared. They have zero to do with Christ and his teachings. Zero. She’s a moronic, useless fool. But she got elected. Somehow. And now this. She’s accomplished nothing while being a congresswoman. Nothing. Going around blabbing about “taking over”. I know. I’ve read too many sci-fi novels. But. Ugly ugly political climate here
Perhaps Republicans prohibiting abortion already have a plan to feed, house and educate those unwanted children (and the many more they are likely to be responsible for if this legislation ever passes). Probably on their to do list, right after healthcare and infrastructure.
In the book “Freakonomics” by Malcolm Gladwell, one of his conclusions was about the timing of when Roe v Wade became law, and the violent crime rate over the next 20 years. There was a powerful correlation between 1973 and the drop in violent crime 20 years later.
Just from their track record, of course they have NO plans to feed, house, or educate anyone else kids. Prisons (for profit) will provide the social services, that’s their solution.
Once again: The point of banning abortions is NOT to reduce their number. Contraceptives, sex education, access to health care and other efforts, would accomplish that.
That is NOT the objective.
The objective is to PUNISH SINNERS, women sinners, and especially poor women sinners. (of course, being poor shows that they are not in God’s graces and are therefore sinners anyway)
.
And does ANYONE believe that once abortions are made illegal, that they will not be available to Republican elected officials?
Senator Graham’s bill in the senate does NOTHING to affect abortions bans already in place – if you live in a state that promotes “personhood” or even prosecutes “Onanism” that stays in place.
He’s just hoping that all the people in those states currently that are promoting such onerous abortion bans will NOT read the fine print of his bill and will thing his bill will ease some of the harsher restrictions currently in “play”.
Of course, there always IS the possibility that Lindsey really is just a clueless idiot – but we needn’t go there at this time.
Please note that Lindsey does not face the voters of South Carolina again until 2026.

I continue to be amazed at what comes out of the mouths of so many elected representatives.

Lindsay is lying . . . If the Republicans take control of government, they’ll pass a national total ban.

Graham is an idiot; he doesn’t know Republicans are not supposed to tell the truth before an election.
