You know that it is rumored that when you get to heaven you will meet so many people you never expected to see there that you will ask St Peter about it, and he will say, “Be quiet my son/daughter, they are just as surprise to see you here.” I think about my own life and I believe that if the grace of God is sufficient for me, it is sufficient for almost anyone, regardless of their professed religion. I know a lot of evangelical republicans don’t agree, but that is their problem. God bless them.

I rather like Richard Matheson’s take on Heaven (and Hell) in What Dreams May Come, which I read around 1979.

It’s a very thoughtful book and much deeper than what you might expect if you have only watched the movie

If I thought Heaven was real in any… real… sense, this would be amusing, I guess. She was the last of a long line of monarchs… the one who gradually overcame some of her conditioning to become a person we all “liked”. He tried to become someone like that too, but was thrown out by power-hungry wanna-be dictators / czarists.

True, compared to putin Gorbachev is a vast improvement, but he ain’t exactly a saint either.

I feel that Gorbachev was much more diplomatic than Putin could ever be! He should’ve stayed with the KGB! He is no politician at all!
