I think when you start questioning the purity of the Party, it’s time for your Party to go away. It’s very Hitler-esque of you.

Side bar: lemmings don’t actually run off cliffs. It’s a pervasive myth, but useful as metaphor.

Um.. Methinks it’s the trump gang that are the lemmings. Ms. Cheney is about as close to a traditional republican as one can get. trump and his MAGA followers are far removed from even a hint of republican values.

A Vote for Truth or The Return of a Man Named Trump.

    • As you can see, the Democrats are soooo bad – crazy radicals every one of them – that I will vote for any Republican to keep the crazies at bay.

    • As you can see, the Republicans are soooo bad – crazy radicals every one of them – that I will vote for any Democrat to keep the crazies at bay.

The truth ain’t in it. Just what is it about the truth that scares us so?

Rs & Ds cannot truthfully be called radical. Clever semantics and cherry picked examples can’t change the fact that our government is, and always has been, all about the status quo — how to keep the ‘thing’ running. The only radical administration we’ve ever had is Thomas Jefferson’s, and it backed the status quo to the hilt.

Biden is no radical – he’s center lane all the way. Harris was a prosecutor, for gonzo’s sake!

Trump is no radical – but Trump voters do have a serious radical streak in them. Modern status quo ain’t to their liking, and a somewhat crazy ‘rogue male’ in power is their best chance to overthrow modern times & make them feel a little less afraid. If Truth gets in the way, just do the other thing – lie. And make sure your kids & grandkids become liars too.

Responsible conservatives with intelligence and a conscience need to have a party. Trump’s Republican Party has no place for them. Either they should take back the party or they should leave. They won’t become Democrats, I wouldn’t expect them to do that, so maybe they need a new party.

I favor the general principle that political and social structures should be designed to encourage the protection of individual liberties and the development of individual talents. Starting from that principle, each situation needs to be evaluated on its own. Sometimes the government should stay out of individual decisions. For instance, the government should leave everyone’s consensual sex life alone. But sometimes the government should act to protect individuals. Everyone, for instance, should be provided with the opportunity for a good education, so the government should provide free public schools, all the way through higher education or apprenticeships. I favor a free market, in general, but the government should protect people against predatory business practices, and that includes protection of the workers’ right to unionize, as well as health and safety regulations and regulations to protect the environment. And so on. There is always a balance. The history of the twentieth century shows the danger of too little government and the danger of too much government.

Ms Cheney is a phenom, for sure, but her flintiness has previously always been seen in her absolute opposition to anything that will improve the lives of ordinary Americans.

When a party espouses the self over all for decades and is propped up by a network seeking profit thru fear-mongering and promoting a culture of false victimization, none of this is, frankly, all that surprising.

Think I have to disagree with you on this one Mike. Are you saying that Cheney is a true conservative Republican and that those who oppose her are the RINOs? That makes little sense and I’ll remind you that she’s down by about thirty point against her opponent in the upcoming election. You think all the voters opposed to her are RINOs too?

If as you say Adolph Hitler co-opted a small radical socialist party in Germany and re-engineered it to his beliefs I hope that the “comments author” is denigrating the RINOS who are destroying the GOP!!!
