NO ONE can accuse Ted of paying too much attention to detail.

Remember when Ted told us that there was no real difference between Bush and Gore. All we got from giving credibility to that were overtly managed, interminable wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, massive tax cuts for the rich, decades of deficits, Chief Justice Roberts, and Justice Alito. Just inconsequential stuff

Democrats are definitely pro-war. Not when they’re campaigning, but when they’re administering. Obama expanded the wars we were fighting, and it looks like Biden will outdo him by starting a nuclear war!

Obviously, ideas were slow to come at the Rall drawing board: “Oh, let me just use the old false-equivalency shtick and finally get to bed …” Knowing you can be better than this. Subtlety is one thing, homeopathy another.

About 67% true on average; 100% true for the reds and about 33% true for the blues.

Where’s the Russian version, with Putin full sized on one-side and a tiny mouse on the other. 1st panel – I am pro-war to protect our county from [i.e. stranglehold as the natural gas supplier to Europe]. 2nd – I am pro-business [that I effectively control]. 3rd – LOL. 4th – pixie dust.

After the last six years, anyone who claims that there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans has been living in a cave somewhere up in the north woods.

Whelp, this piece lacks reasonable perspective.

It’s way too simplistic to vote for a candidate simply because they either have an R or a D after their name. All politicians basically work for their own reelection. They may sincerely believe that their being in a position of power helps people they care about, or they may be simply interested in keeping a paying job. No matter why they vote the way they do, the result is the same. The voters need to be informed in order to separate the ones who are interested in helping the middle class from the corporate stooges. If you really want to know who a candidate will be working for, look at a site called “Open Secrets”. There are others, but this is a good one. It will tell you who is financing their campaign.We all have to do the bidding of who ever is supplying the money to pay our bills. So do politicians. If most of their money is coming from individuals, unions, or other organizations representing the Middle Class, that is who they are going to work for. If most of their money is from banks, etc, they are going to work for the 1%. They don’t really have any choice if they want to win the next election. To vote their conscience against the 1% would be political suicide.

Mr. Rall is the ultimate contrarian. If you told him his shoe laces were untied, he’d answer – No they’re not.

Panel 2 (upper right) tells it all. It speaks to the emergence of the “corporate Democrat” over the past 20 years. Examine the campaign donations.

Where ever does Rall get this about Dems? Except for engaging in wars, that’s where the similarity with Repubs ends.

It certainly used to be true that the parties were becoming indistinguishable (European friends of mine in the 90s certainly thought so), but that was before the fruits of Reagan’s alliance with the fundamentalist right and Christian Dominionists really took hold and with #45’s help moved the Republican Party into active Nazism.

The Democrats aren’t the ones playing footsie with dictators, as did the Bushes and #45. The Democrats, however flawed they are (and they are), have been working to increase voting, not turn us into a new apartheid, as the Republicans have.

The Democrats haven’t promoted global warming denialism. The Republican Party is the only major political party in the world that denies anthropogenic global warming outside of Russia.

Are they both too business-friendly? Unquestionably. But in case you hadn’t noticed, Democrats are willing to raise taxes on the rich, and take climate action. Should they do more? Of course. But can you equate “we will do some” with “we think it is all a hoax”? No.

Equating the two is not only a false equivalency, but appears to be encouraging people to give up on voting at all. And yet we see changes happening thanks to younger voters mobilizing to take action, and some of us older voters targeting specific battles to tip the government back the right way, using the same strategy the Republicans used 40 years ago with too much success.

Are you giving up? Or just promoting a revolution?

The “Both parties are alike” rhetoric is what got us W Bush over Gore.

I think it became pretty clear how the parties differed on going to war without evidence.

Ha! Nothing will change until we get rid of donations from congressional lobbyists; make Congress have same health plan options as an employee of Amazon, and dont allow stock purchases while in term. Am I dreaming? yup.

After 2000 election Bush ditched the Kyoto protocols setting back the global effort to address climate change by 15 years at least. Gore would have doubled down on dealing with global warming perhaps thus avoiding some of the extreme weather we will be dealing with in the decades to come.
