I have to admit I was gratified that my hopes and wishes for this vote were granted by the good people of Kansas. Puts a little less stress on our state where abortion is considered a medical procedure and as with all such procedures, if at all possible, the decision is made by the person and her doctor. Rather than being made with zero data by mostly old, mostly male people whose expertise is “getting elected” which quite apparently, in some states, has a negative correlation with understanding medical ethics.
I’ll bet you dollars to donuts that the Kansas GOP is crapping their pants at this result. I can’t wait to see when the Kansas GOP türdballs in the Lege decided to override the “Will of the People” that they blather on and on about in endless brumbeat…at least until 02 AUG 2022….
But just a few days ago most of you thought ppl of Kansas were deplorables.. and would would think the same if vote would have been 49-51 instead … also once again proves that the constitutional way if the right way, Supreme Court correct and the Republic works the way is suppose to be so basically you all are so happy that you proved yourselves wrong
How many states have a phrase in their constitutions that say something to the effect: "The sovereign state of(fill in the blank). Read the Federalist Papers and the constitution. You might just see how an overbearing central government was to be opposed. The Kansas decision is to be applauded.
The republikkkans are a sneaky bunch. We in Missouri had passed by referendum a measure to create a demographer’s office by which state congressional districts would be determined rather than by a scrum of politicians bent on saving their jobs and consolidating political power. The legislature countered with a counter referendum, vaguely worded that supplanted the original referendum and put the politicians back into doing business for their own benefit.
^^ and when something goes wrong ( Kentucky for example) they are the first ones in line crying for government help and free giveaways. I have a relative that owns beach property and never buys flood insurance. He hates the federal govt. His comment was/is “why should I pay for insurance – we’re white – they’ll give it to us anyway”. States Rights – maybe we should encourage China to invade Arizona?
Committing suicide? Folks, you won’t be around to suffer any consequences for your action…if you do a decent job of it. I’ve sorted out decisions like this years ago and if I end up with a debilitating, painful, terminal illness it’s “bye for now” on my own terms.

So much for a vote of the people. Republican legislatures will make sure it never happens again.

59% to 41% is NOT what anyone could call a “Close Race”… except for certain Reich-Wingers.
