It’s called The American Dream™ because you have to be asleep to believe it. It’s the greatest piece of Social Darwinist BS ever created and we have The Chamber of Commerce™ to thank for it….
Banks and such do not truly ‘loan’ money. You aren’t borrowing it, you are renting it. You are paying for the privilege of using it, frequently paying a Lot, and you have to give it back eventually.
I did something unheard of, I saved and invested. Not having to borrow anything for any reason. And I sold Mr. Douglas a white elephant for tons of dough, LOL!
Common loan scams and tricks are legion. They have been with us since biblical times. In fact, it is rumored that Eve signed a promissory note for the apple and we’ve been paying for that ever since.
But, the most recent form of public robbery by far arrived in the late 20th century. There was born the college loan debacle: i.e., unprincipled for-profit-colleges held to no known standards of performance, coupled with unbridled venality, uncontrolled interest rates, and state legislatures allowing it to happen without challenge. There are thousands of people whose financial lives have been harmed and for whom their credit ratings will be permanently reduced from what they should be.

Just sign here, no interest for 30 days. The rest is fine print that needs a lawyer to decipher.

I think it was Harry S Truman who once remarked that banks were more than happy to loan you money as long as you could prove you don’t need it.

Using a Credit Cards to pay for another Loan is the sign you are upside-down and in deep Kimchi money wise. Seek help before it’s too late.
