If the Turtle cared even a little bit about the plight of people, then yes, he’d be worried about all this. But he absolutely doesn’t give a damn.

If that happens and the Repubbas control both houses the best outcome would be if Biden vetoes most of the nonsense they will try to pass as it will likely be proposed to benefit the 1%ers and conglomerates they control such as fossil fuels, pharmaceuticals, the govt-military complex, the NRA, HMOs, insurance, banking, Amazon and their like as well as providing tax cuts for the above said. I would sincerely hope his veto would not be overridden as there is more than one or 2 blue dog democrat in the senate. Of course, the thought occurred to me that Biden may not veto some legislation as I think back to some of his questionable votes on finance, banking, bankruptcy and of course anything that could get the war hawk democrats and repubbas on the same page such as a nice “wag the dog” military conflict that they all seem keen to go all in on!

Uh, Democrats were supposed to struggle to correct things left by a Republican Administration; then having corrected them, hand the government over to Republicans so they spend four years pillaging back again. Maybe all the obstruction from the Right Wing was too thorough and short-sighted, Mitch. With Covid-19 and Putin, the pattern has gone awry. The best laid plans of “rats” and men …

Governing in America demands compromise — hell, just living in America demands compromise. The respective ‘wings’ of either party do not compromise.

As Mr. Rall emphasizes above, the energized, radical faction of the republican party has successfully tapped into the psyche of white ‘christian’ angst.

The energized, radical faction of the democratic party exhibits very little influence on anything at all.

What to do? So very many millions of people who vote Democratic by necessity would love a successful progressive alternative.

If the extreme progressives cannot even make a serious dent in the Democratic party [sure, they are shunned and kept down by their ‘own’ party], then logically they would have almost no chance of effectively governing.

Obviously, Democratic party nominees are not that hard to beat, and if ya can’t manage to do even that, you are not ready for prime time.

Since everyone assumes Biden won’t be really be running in 2024, he has been a de facto lame duck since day one. And because Democrats lacked courage since 2020 elections, that reinforced the tacit lame duck status.

Republicans have no intention of accomplishing anything after 2022. They will want things to spiral to even worse economic conditions so they can blame Democrats and get the Presidency. Get ready, after the midterms, things will be getting really bad, Then after 2024, the United States will be supplanted by an authoritarian regime justified by a faux Christian theocracy.

Maybe it won’t happen, but Republicans are having weekly circle jerks about that possible future.

Not so sure that will be very different from today. It would be nice if Biden’s antitrust moves bore fruit before then, but, considering the past, it seems unlikely.

Mark my words. After taking back the House and Senate, The GOP will open investigations on Hunter Biden to inflict as much damage as possible on the current administration going into the 2024 elections. America loses again.

Two more years of Congress doing nothing but posturing for primaries. It worked before to get Trump elected and the Supreme Court tilted. Why stop now?

Trump showed he’d ‘go to any length to destroy our democracy’: former GOP lawmaker

Former Rep. Francis Rooney (R-FL) on Wednesday delivered an excoriating assessment of former President Donald Trump’s actions in the wake of his loss in his 2020 election.

During a panel discussion, Rooney was asked about revelations that Trump campaign officials created phony electors that would be used to overturn the certified results in states he lost to President Joe Biden.

“That tells me that they would go to any length to destroy our American institution of democracy,” Rooney said. “This reminds me so much of Chavez in Venezuela when 80 percent of his precincts reported exactly the same vote. I mean, that’s not what our country is all about. It’s about respecting the elections and process win, lose or draw.”

Rooney was also asked about Sen. Ron Johnson’s involvement in the fake electors scheme, and he said that he wasn’t convinced by his denial of having knowledge of the plot.

“Part of the problem with the people who serve in those jobs is they throw the staff under the bus to protect themselves,” he said. “I think it’s absurd that he denied that he knew about it and sent the poor staffer to take that over to Pence’s office.”

McConnell doesn’t care about issues. He said so. He refused to say anything about what Republicans would do if they returned to power, instead relying on America being fickle enough just to blame Democrats and select the alternative.

    He’s right, you know.

Just as Biden reassured Wall St., “nothing will fundamentally change”. If it weren’t for Manchin and Sinema there’d be a dozen other corporate dems ready to derail any progressive agenda.

I have seen this show so many times now. We “throw the bums out” and install nearly identical bums and nothing really change, same as it ever was, it’s almost if the politicians were all in the same party. You can never guess which shell the pea is under, cause there ain’t no pea at all.
