I have had a couple dogs chew up the edges of area rugs. It would have to be pretty high to have prevented my Labrador from chewing it up.

Why would he even consider buying his boss an expensive Persian rug for her birthday??
We have a Persian rug hall runner and a stair runner/whatever on the front stairs. The cats have not bothered them nor have the dogs. Lucky I guess.
