Public schools: “I don’t wanna pay for it”. Private and charter schools: “How can I make money off it?”

Accommodating gun nuts and their warped sense of what manhood means has demonstrably undermined both public and private schools. What kind of learning environment succeeds with prison-like precautions, shooter drills, and a constant fear of if our school will be the next target? And children being homeschooled by unqualified Sunday-school teachers as the solution?

The last panel is unfortunately too true. However most of the children shot this way are too young for public schools. Several hundred 5 years old or younger each and every year!

I’m thinking it is odd that innocent people are securely ‘locked down’ in ‘hardened’ buildings, while the criminally insane are free to roam for victims. The New Normal.

Will there now be a private “protection” agency that people can hire to protect their children in public schools from overly enthusiastic 2nd Amendment activists with semi-automatic weapons … as the local police AND the US Congress have become dysfunctional?

NC Republican Lt. Governor Mark Robinson threatens to murder gov’t officials with his AR-15

This is far from the first time Robinson has been caught saying insane things. He has previously claimed that gays and lesbians are “filth” and that abortion is a “sin” — except, of course, for the abortion he obtained for his now-wife in 1989.

Robinson has been a gun extremist for only a few years. When his gun-rights rant at a Greensboro City Council meeting went viral in 2019, Robinson had never even been active in politics. (He also, it was later discovered, did not even own a gun.) But right-wing stardom propelled him to North Carolina’s largely ceremonial Lt. Governorship in 2020, and he is now all but the confirmed Republican candidate for the Governorship in 2024.

Well, adding sarcasm to sarcasm, the at home schooled child will suffer less from a self inflicted gunshot than from one of an AK 47 school shooting. And, though, the proposed Repub response of shutting down the schools is, at best, ludicrous, we thought the same about Trump being nominated by the Repub party.

Seems I have read of many conservatives claiming the kids staying home and being schooled has caused mental anguish.

Now I hear that the Federal government has a fund to tear down school shooting sites and rebuild them elsewhere.

Have they thought of maybe having fewer school shootings? I call it thinking outside the coffin. (With credit to Jon Stewart.)

One of the very best things about first world nations: Access to good schooling. Another: Access to health care. Another: Equality of opportunity regardless of race, gender etc. Too bad the USA isn’t a first world country anymore.
