Usual Spanish word for Dad is papá, which is very close to what she’s asking.

Not even Papá? If Papa (without the accent), you’d think he is one of four bishops/pontiffs of Rome named Sergius from the seventh, ninth, tenth, and eleventh centuries.

Every family is different, but I thought names like Paw-paw or Pop-pop generally mean a grandfather.

She can change it on her own. I was “Gramps” but then my Grandson started calling me “Bop” so now I’m Bop! He didn’t have to ask my permission!

My daughter still calls me Daddy. To my oldest grandson, I’m Gramps, while the younger ones call me Abuelo.

My friend called his mother “Ma”, so I asked my Mom about calling her that. Absolutely not. 8>)

When you want a dog to shake hands, you say, “PawPaw”.

Never called my dad “Pawpaw,” and I’m not Latino but I’m 100% behind her sticking with “Papi”!

Wow how we deviate from the strip’s point lol. Gracie is starting to assimilate into American teen culture, which in this case could be a problem. Culture is everything; don’t change who you are to fit in.
