Since the mass import of Dixiecrats, segregationist Democrats, and supremacists, voters in the ’60s, plus the evangelicals and Catholics soon afterward, the “Republican” party planning has changed from well-considered long-term to chaotic emotionally-driven short-term … often just the next election with no platform at all.
The Republican Party is proud of the fact they are anything but Pro-Life. They couldn’t care less about babies or children or healthcare or the future of our country, or that they haven’t a clue about biology outside man coming from a handful of dust and woman from a rib. They care only about money and power, and above all, control. Trumpers and christian conservatives provide them with the validation they will be supported no matter what they say or do. Right now Women are the only chance we have to stop them. Right now. Vote.
Actually, the republican party has quietly slipped over into being a fascist party of domestic terrorists while no one was looking – a tiny little baby step was instituted in 1994 under Clinton which banned further sales of “assault weapons”, but it had an automatic “sunset” provision, and by 2004 no one in congress wanted to further the ban, or at least the democrats couldn’t’ get past the republicans to continue the ban – “Assault rifles” are what’s doing the vast majority of the killing these days
“The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It’s almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus but actually dislike people who breathe.
Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.

Buh but fetuses are the perfect strawman, you can obsess over their precious nature when they can’t talk back, then ignore them when they can.

And don’t have an abortion or the angry elephant who doesn’t know how to mind his own business will sue you for murder.
