That does seem to be where Alito et al are coming from. Which is astonishing, and VERY dismaying.

PROgressives are concerned that, for the first time in the history of the United States, a right that had been recognized will be taken away. Up until now, we had only moved forward in the expansion of rights and the inclusion of those who had been left out. It will be the first time we will move backward. It will be the first time a younger generation of women will have fewer rights than their mothers.

Conservatives are only concerned that the people found out what their government was planning to do to them.

It is time we had MORE transparency in the judicial system. People SHOULD see how the sausage-making of judicial decisions takes place, just as we see how laws are introduced, debated in committees and on the floor and finally passed and have public comment periods on executive branch policy changes.

Alito and the conservatives are outraged that their “right to privacy” turns out to be limited. The irony couldn’t be more delicious.

On top of that it’s guaranteed equal pay for women to males in similar positions plus 30% for pregnant women and mothers, job and retirement security plus retirement benefits that are 30% greater for mothers, job rights free family prenatal and post natal maternity leave for 6 months each with free, unlimited, and comprehensive extended care for mother and child/children for any conditions, complications, and/or diseases for pregnant women, women, and the child experiences until the child reaches age 26, free prenatal care, free OB/GYN care, free “feminine hygiene” products with a stop to any and all taxes on them, free childcare for all children up to age 18 and available both 24/7/365 and on demand (because guess what? Womem work), free pre-K and free school placement both guaranteed and tax free, free wellness checks for women and children, free and comprehensive birthing care regardless of complications, and so on. We’ll get back to you on other needs. Until then please be so kind as to climb back under your 13th century rock and shove it where the sun don’t shine.

A little known fact: The Roman Catholic Church is not opposed to abortion, only the right wing lunatic fringe of it is.

Official Church doctrine states that the whole abortion issue rests upon when life begins. And since that has never been empirically or rationally established or agreed upon, and neither have we a universal definition of “life” itself, the Church has stated it CANNOT make a decision on abortion, has NO official stance on it, and states that decision is up to the woman.

Let us not forget how cavalierly Chuck Grassley waved off victims of sexual abuse who were protesting at the Kavanaugh hearings while uncomfortably waiting for the elevator doors to close. You can’t unsee stuff like that.

So, Mr. Alito, it’s true the Constitution doesn’t mention the word “abortion”. Does it mention “marriage”? Does it mention semi-automatic weapons? Does it say anything about clean water, for that matter?

Many people believe that there will necessarily be an excess number of adoptable babies as a result. While this may be true, I’m old enough to remember the days before Roe, when countless numbers of women would die “as a result of complications from appendicitis”, when they really died as a result of botched back-alley abortions.

There will always be a demand for abortion, like it or not. Acknowledge it or not. It is a fact. And women, especially desperate women, will meet someone who has a college degree in biology and a pair of knitting needles or a crochet hook in some back room.

This is the world Republicans want us to return to. When they say they respect women, they tell you all you need to know about them.

Fences were put up around SC as soon as the leak happened. Protestors have been blocked from outside of SC for a long time. But SCOTUS decided that anti-choice protestors can harass and scream at women outside of clinics that provide birth control and abortions.
