How do porcupines mate? Very carefully! the birth must go the same way!

Porcupines are born with quills, but they are moist and soft at the time of birth. They harden after they dry out.

looks like the nurse is feeling pretty prickly…

I would think that little darling would be born without his quills, like a baby dear is born without it’s spots…

And it all started with one little prick.

Actually the spikes aren’t hardened until after the birth.
