Remember that the Supremes in their… wisdom… have basically said that ONLY the second clause of the amendment matters. I cannot see this being reversed until people rise up and DEMAND some sanity. (And I cannot foresee that happening either)
More guns, obviously. With as much ammunition and magazine capacity as anyone can carry. Along with unlimited magazine capacities, silencers, flash suppressors, armor piercing bullets, dumdums, all untraceable and no permits required.
Everywhere.
On the streets.
Every public place.
Offices and factories.
Hospitals.
Churches.
Military bases.
Schools, especially.
Groceries and every other kind of store.
Libraries.
Legislatures — no filibusters.
No car should be without one, in case you get mad at that jerk who just cut you off.
.
Some of those heavily armed people are bound to be Good Guys and they’ll know exactly who to shoot.
.
How did we ever survive as a nation when machine guns and switchblade knives were outlawed?
Next up: Bring back legalized machine guns! And grenades.
Stop ghost guns and readily available firearms and severally punish those who break those laws, including businesses.
Make stiffer penalties for all crimes involving firearms.
Remove firearms from those who should not have them. Set standards of training, offer a list of behaviors that will cause gun ownership to be suspended (domestic violence, road rage, etc).
Improve education, housing, and job opportunities in the communities that need them the most. End the war on the poor.
Make it possible for all people in America to have access to healthy food.
Test everyone that can be tested for levels of lead and other heavy metal poisoning. If you cannot understand why, just Google “symptoms of lead poisoning.”
Require background checks for firearms owners to be reviewed every few years. What would they have to fear?
The U.S. has less than 5% of the world’s population but 40% of the world’s civilian-owned guns. More than 39,000 men, women and children being killed with guns each year in the USA (which is not #1 in the world). On average, more than 360 people in the USA are shot every day and survive – at least long enough to get to a hospital.
As long as the US is a culture that extols violence, that acts as if kicking a$$ is the way to get things done, you will have this problem. The Swiss, a very well-armed society, have a concept called rücksicht, which means consideration for others. We could use some of that in the US.
Well, here’s a start. I’ve said it for years that with 20,000-plus local, county, state, and federal laws on the books…….maybe we ought to enforce them. But we don’t.
And as if by Providence, I found this on my news feed this morning:
So maybe, and I’m just spit balling here and going WAY out on a limb…….we actually punish the dealers that we know are a massive part of the problem. But that’s just silly talk I guess.
“No way to prevent this” says only nation where this regularly happens. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%27No_Way_To_Prevent_This,%27_Says_Only_Nation_Where_This_Regularly_Happens
Other countries have been successful in reducing this problem with serious gun control laws. By reducing the amount of weapons an individual can own, the types of weapons sold, and the amount of ammunition that can be purchased in their countries. I believe some countries expect you to be able to account for all the ammunition you have in your possession. Meaning you have to have an account of why and where you used any ammunition. Does this mean those countries never have a shooting, no. However, they have far fewer shootings and may go years in between.
Note that the 2nd. Amendment says there shall be no laws regulating the possession of firearms. It doesn’t say SQUAT about ammunition… start charging $500 a box for .45 bullets, minimum of $10,000 for reloading equipment, using the revenue for firearms instruction and safety classes, and things would calm down.
There’s an amazing level of paranoia, racism, hate speech, and utter crapola propaganda from the usual Turd Reich trolls. To the level which makes several of them sound like they should be under care and not be allowed near anything sharper than a crayon.
They’re posting only RWNJ sources which are easily debunked, quoting RWNJ podcasts, talking heads, and the Wayne “the 2nd biggest grifter” LaPierre who has got his legal hands full trying to dodge indictments. But nothing except hate, fear mongering, and dog whistles – no sense of compromise or even basic logic and sensibility about exerting any control. And they patently ignore any consideration of gun violence in the home or among relations/aquaintences. Plenty of not so veiled threats and posturing, a few not so subtle racist digs (and one utterly blatant post that deserves a lifetime ban) but no moving a single inch to solve a uniquely American horror story. No surprise given its the Turd Reich.

Certainly not by blowing dogwhistles.
It will take a long list of complicated actions -
Stop ghost guns and readily available firearms and severally punish those who break those laws, including businesses.
Make stiffer penalties for all crimes involving firearms.
Remove firearms from those who should not have them. Set standards of training, offer a list of behaviors that will cause gun ownership to be suspended (domestic violence, road rage, etc).

Require background checks for firearms owners to be reviewed every few years. What would they have to fear?
And much more.

“Gun Control” laws illustrate one of the fundamental differences between libertarians and progressives:
Libertarians don’t trust The Government.
Progressives don’t trust The People.
