You should almost assume that about any driver/vehicle you are following. Almost always, if they stop in front of you and you don’t stop in time (and you run into them), you will be considered at fault.

What a perfect match. By the looks of the following distance in this cartoon, Ziggy never brakes at all! It is really a fortunate thing that cartoon characters never die. Ziggy will be back tomorrow good as new.

Only wimps do ‘brake checks.’

If you can’t see the mirrors then they can’t see you. I once black smoked a couple in a convertible. I saw them still at that light a block later.

I do that! But I don’t have a bumper sticker.

And is fully entitled to do so. Nobody is going to send you an instant message that they are going to brake in a few seconds. You can’t “push” the car ahead, so leave room. If you collide, it’s your fault and your higher insurance premiums. Be smart, get wherever you are going just 3 seconds later.

I got that bumper sticker for a friend of mine. (in her case, it’s usually a squirrel in the road)

Well yes, if he’s blocking your view and you can’t see what he’s reacting to, all braking will seem to be without apparent reason. That don’t make it so!

A long time ago, I thought of putting on a bumper sticker that read “Warning: driver brakes suddenly and has a good lawyer”.
