no, you doofuses, that is not how you use garbage cans (nor use your customer’s property as your own landfill for cigarette butts and beer cans)

This one has me confused. What is the joke here?:

    1. The workers thought drinking and smoking was bad and they were afraid of getting caught by Elly doing that and it turned out she was more concerned about littering.

    2. Because she brought out two cans, they assumed they were for their sitting, because if she wanted them not to litter, she would have needed one can. Elly was too generous for her own good.

    3. Elly has opted not to go to the French guy to complain about his workers and has decided to police them herself. Fill in favourite joke about Quebecois work ethic.

    4. Construction workers are not bright enough to understand Elly Patterson and her indirect language.

I’s start billing the contractor by the hour for cleanup at his hourly rate.

Police the work site. It’s the polite thing to do. Also a safety thing. You could hurt yourself tripping over those cans when you are carrying a big load and can’t see where you are putting your big fat feet. And with all that sawdust and wood-chips around, plus paint, those cigarette butts could become a fire hazard.

Few things make me angrier when I’m driving and I see someone flip a cigarette butt out the window..

Do you really think that construction workers are at the top of the intellectual food chain? Have you seen the illegal Mexicans ( sorry but they are) standing on corners or at 7 11s …what do you think they are waiting for? They are waiting to be chosen so that they can do a days work at YOUR House!

Contractors! This and more bad behavior!I just hate having to deal with them. If they even show up.There is a reason they are portrayed in this light.

Having worked for contractors for 40 years, I can honestly say that there are some workers who behave like these two. However, the vast majority are conscientious men who love the work they do and want to keep their jobs. If OSHA inspected the site and found construction debris or soda cans and cigarette butts all over, their boss would get fined and they would get fired. Some didn’t care, but most did.

My experience with contractors: In addition to coming in on time and on budget with excellent work on a massive remodeling job, the workers were regularly on the job on time and the job site was immaculate at the end of every work day. One time there was an empty soda can sitting on a windowsill. I was alerted to this by the shouting of the guy in charge, loudly reaming out the perpetrator. Who rushed to grab the can and throw it in the dumpster.

I would hope that they totally clean up after themselves. We had 6 guys replacing our roof after hail damage in San Antonio, they spent 2 solid days before they finished, then spent another hour cleaning up the entire yard

I had a contractor come to give an estimate who reeked of tobacco—okay, whatever—and after he left I found a cigarette butt tossed into some dried leaves. In a heatwave in California. He could have burned the entire neighborhood and blown up the nearby gas station. The guy couldn’t understand why I didn’t hire him.

Turn the garbage cans upside down and still act like slobs.
