I don’t like that rule. Starting off extra innings with a runner on second base. I just don’t think that’s how the game should be played.

I hate the “ghost runner.” Loath it to the depths of my soul. I have been part of a group holding two full season MLB tickets since 1988. We have collectively paid them a large sum of money for our seats. If they keep that abomination, I will not be silent. I realize that my team and its ownership have nothing to do with the rules of the game. So the Commissioner (Rob Manfred currently) will hear about it as well.

If the ghost runner is so great, why not start every inning with it? And at third base instead of second? If you’re going to make a joke out of baseball, screw subtlety…go all the way.

So glad I live closer to Japan than the USA. The Central League doesn’t even have the DH, let alone wankage like this.

First hockey, then football, now baseball, either play the OT per the rules or let games end in a tie (I prefer ties for regular games).

you want faster games, put runners on 2nd for every inning.

Tank should star in his own wraparound segments on the Cleats show.

Bad rule, do a pitch clock instead, and no time out to adjust the pinky on the batter’s glove.

One of my happiest memories was when my adult sons and I watched the Braves win a 17 inning game against the Pirates at Turner Field, and then stopping at Denny’s 30 minutes later, on the way home, for a 3 AM breakfast. No more memories arising from baseball.

I did get to see the only leadoff double play in MLB History in Baltimore.

We switched to YouTube TV a few months ago and since they don’t carry Bally Sports I won’t be able to watch my team on a regular basis. Oh well, at least we still get the MLB network.

The ghost runner idea is beyond dumb. Not quite shootout to decide hockey games dumb, but a close second.

“Baseball” is over. It’s now all about launch angle, bat speed, exit velocity. How about teaching the fundamentals of the game? What a novel concept.

As for faster games, I offer a couple suggestions. Enforce the strike zone. Batters MUST be granted permission from the home plate umpire to step out of the box. This preening has to stop. No permission? No problem. The batter gets one warning, and after that it’s an automatic strike.

This rule is abnormal. You don’t give ANYBODY a head start.

Big memory of a Mets-Marlins game in New York—-secondgame of a double header went about 15 innings(Mets lost, naturally) and I missed the first half of a New York Philharmonic concert I thought I would “make easy”.

April 19th and June 23rd, 1981. Pawtucket Red Sox and Rochester Redwings played a game that lasted 33 innings, longest in pro baseball history. I seem to remember baseball celebrating that event.
