Pretty much summarizes it up. Some experts figure it may take decades for the Russian economy to recover.

The worst thing that ever happened to Putin was getting Trump elected. Without Hillary restraining him, he blundered into the murdering maniac assclown loser he is.

Few foreign world leaders — let alone any murderous dictators — have received more solicitous treatment from the Republican Party during the last five years than Vladimir Putin. Had Democrats so warmly and fulsomely embraced someone who now threatens to rain destruction down on our country; had they gleefully sent delegations to kowtow to that person’s criminal syndicate, thugs and cronies (on the 4th of July, no less); and had they, along with their media mouthpieces, sung his praises and echoed his talking points for literally years, obsequiously grovelling before him and marveling at his prowess and “toughness,” well, you could expect that the Democratic Party would be awash in shame and humiliation right about now, pilloried at every turn for its treachery.

Not to mention the blood rubles they gladly accepted, and now have the nerve to whine about gas prices and inflation. Psychotic hypocrisy, thy name is Republican.

Actually, the sanctions are the biggest reason. And the sanctions are also, less directly, blowing up the U.S. economy. And probably the US dollar hegemony with it.

Speaking with Fox News influencer Sean Hannity on Thursday, former President Donald Trump declined to denounce Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, even when Hannity was trying hard to help him repair his public image after he praised Russian President Vladimir Putin as “very smart” and a “genius” for invading Ukraine.

During the interview, Hannity tried time and time again to get Trump to say anything negative about Putin, but the former president pivoted to another topic every time.

“You came under some fire when you said Vladimir Putin’s very smart,” Hannity said, trying to downplay Trump’s praise of the murderous dictator. “I think I know you a little bit better than most people in the media, and I think you also recognize he’s evil, do you not?”

Trump replied by changing the subject and appeared to side with Putin’s excuse to start a war with Ukraine.

“Well I was referring to the fact that he said this is an independent nation,” Trump said, referring to Putin’s declaration that eastern portions of Ukraine were now their own countries. “This was before there was any attack! He’s calling it an independent nation! Now, a lot of things are changing, now look, this doesn’t seem to be the same Putin I was dealing with! But I will tell you, he wouldn’t have changed if I were dealing with him, he wouldn’t have changed!”

Later in the interview, Hannity tried to get Trump to denounce Putin but Trump refused to do it.

Putin may be crazy enough to use Nukes, but are the generals?

General Curtis LeMay, onetime head of the American Strategic Air Command, was once heard to opine ove a glass of scotch at the Offit Air Force Base Officers Club that the successful execution of a nuclear war was to first finish the destruction of any partially destroyed civilian population centers – that way the military wouldn’t need to concern itself with "rescuing any “non-combatants” and, could, instead, pursue the military goal of fighting the war, unencumbered by outside influences. It was always assumed that the General was “joking” – though I can’t imagine why?

LeMay’s assessment of “war” was the correct military response to conflict. This is ALSO WHY Americans are not governed by a military force and one of the reasons Senator Goldwater did not win the ’64 election – remember his famous “quote” – “Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”

This went against American values on so many levels, but was an accurate mantra for a military general, which he was.

At some point the Russian People aren’t going to take being put back into pre-1990’s Soviet Russia and will again decide to do something about it.

And the Russian people will really suffer. It is not enough…and I will not be surprised when he does not stop with Ukraine.
