When did conservatives decide ‘Freedom’ meant overriding the health and welfare of everyone else?

Republican wordsmithing at play.. they have become experts at twisting no end of terms to rallying cries.

When your “freedom” becomes a burden to others. When it deprives others of their rights. How about including your responsibilities and obligations to your fellow Americans in your conversation abour “freedom”.

Your party has become the party of ME. My liberty, my freedoms. But the rest of America can go to hell.

When republican traitors who love dictators coopted it.

When trump’s narcissistic psychopathic outlook on life seeped into so many republican/conspiracists’ ideology: me not we, us against them, my way or no way, forget ‘E pluribus unum’ instead threaten those who don’t adhere to conservative rules, patriarchy, hierarchy, strict father family model (Lakoff), domination culture (Eisler). One can only hope this particular slice of the historical cycle is brief and easily corrected.

At the risk of introducing actual history into this discussion, it probably began, in modern US politics, when segregationist politicians began using the phrase “freedom of choice” to describe efforts to evade the Brown decision and continue to maintain segregated public schools.
