Lawrence is going back to the firing squad, but to get parental pardon.

That is the meaning of “friend”.

That is a very interesting things to say, because of what is in the first panel. Michael tells Lawrence that he has called his mom and because he called her, she is waiting for them. Then he strongly implies that he wants to take Lawrence home. Michael sounds like a police officer who has caught a kid shoplifting. The kid’s parents have been called, and the police officer is bringing him home.

But…what does Lawrence want? What if he does not want to go back to face Connie and Greg? What if he gets back there and what they want to do is send him to one of those conversion camps?

In Australia we accept that people are different – gays, lesbian, different coloured skin, different religious beliefs, different politics, different anything – we don’t have guns and we don’t have that many problems with living like that.

Lawrence, if you will pardon the expression, d@mn straight!! Glad and lucky.

Now—will Mike have to tell HIS parents about Lawrence??

Or will blabbermouth Connie do that?

And what would THEIR reaction be??

This would be a lot more interesting if Lawrence had run over to wherever Ben is living..

Mike, I am sure never meant what he said, it was said it shock and confusing. They will always be friends.

Mike has truly stepped up as a friend. A very good friend.

Question: Are Greg and Connie married? It could be a big difference in what happens next.

It’s hard to find a “not friend” who will go out in the middle of the night and help you out. Treasure the ones you have and be one yourself.

I’ve been reading this strip in the newspaper for years. Re-reading here has been fun, I remember most of the storylines. But our local paper did not run this storyline! Times have changed, mostly for the better.

Better watch out! DeSantis’ thought police are watching!

I know Michael spoke in haste and regrets it. Lawrence is the same person he always was and a good friend. I don’t recall what happened next. Such a long time ago now.

The comments about the following characters have been like this:

Greg Thomas, who kicked Lawrence out of the house for nine hours: “He needs to be dragged out into the streets and shot!”

Pablo da Silva, who kicked Lawrence out of his life for 17 years: “Cut him slack, he’s black!”
