Remember, folks. Caulfield is NOT a mean-spirited kid, and we shouldn’t take his admission of always writing snark and insults on his work, or his constant displays of joy at harassing his teachers (well, the overweight ones, the triathletes like Burke and Plainwell get a pass for reasons that have NOTHING to do with the author) as evidence of his attitude. He’s just SO amazingly ahead of everyone else, that it COMES ACROSS that way, but unless you can relate to the character personally, you’re too dumb to see it.
