I always wondered why, when someone became invisible (in fiction, of course) by doing something or taking some potion, their clothes usually became invisible too. Of course in “The Invisible Man”, the titular character had to be naked to not be seen, since his clothes would still be visible. On top of that, per H. G. Wells, anything he had recently eaten was also visible, at least for a time. This of course wouldn’t apply to superheroes, since it would involve powers that we don’t understand.

I heard a story on the radio some years back about which superpower most people would prefer to have: being able to fly, or being able to become invisible. I think the great majority (at least of men) chose invisible. I wonder why?
