Get the fire hot enough with those “hateful” CRT books, plus the masks, and with the paperwork for various “business constricting” regulations — and it could additionally accommodate many COVID corpses for cremation, including those for children told by their parents not to wear masks. In the Bible, it was the divinity Baal and his court to whom parents threw their children into the fire. Now, it’s Trump and his Republican pantheon to whom parents sacrifice.
Yes, there are some in Virginia that publicly, loudly, advocated burning books. One list of ‘impure’ books was so long some felt there would be no books left, but maybe that was the idea. We may be looking at the future of our Democracy.
With Youngkin and Miyares, Virginians have elected officials who are working to fulfill sensible campaign pledges. One benefit: caring parents have more input into the education of their children.
And what was one of the very first things the POS Youngkin did on the day he took his oath? He tended to the area where historically people coming into America to be sold into slavery came off the boats – his way of commemorating slavery in America and especially in Virginia.
That’s the type of America that the reThuglicans want. They fight against voters’ rights.

I apologize in public for replying directly to a troll (in this case the dishonest cowardly blatantly racist Patrick Murphy), thus breaking my New Year’s resolution. (Which I did keep for almost 19 whole DAYS….) But I haven’t yet replied directly to Montana Swill, nor KE (who would appear to be insane recently, but we know things can get better……….), nor THE dumbest commenter, Beetle, nor whoever Ricky is pretending to be in these treacherous modern times. So, I hereby and forthwith apologize. (With the usual understanding that I play a character hereabouts………)
To be serious: the Current Occupant of Virginia was pretty damn lucky in that his opponent ran an incredibly incompetent race. (See: Hillary Clinton.) Yes, he is very very stupid, yes, he is a panderer to the worst parts of his state, yes, he is dishonest, yes, he is worthless. Until he is proven to commit more felonies than is strictly convenient, he’s what you’ve bleedin’ GOT. So there.
The responses about educating our children are so absurd. 1. Teachers have earned at least a BA/BS. Many have a Masters and/or a PhD. 2. How do schools decide what is taught when so many parents have so many demands. 3. This is just another republican attempt to pour tax dollars into private schools leaving public schools even more underfunded.
I have no idea what Youngkin was before becoming “governor” of Virginia (besides a moronic idiot) but he really needs to return to that, whatever it was – he’s obviously not smart enough to govern a state – even one as stupid as Virginia (their blatant stupidity is self-evident – just look at what’s in their governor’s mansion).
Virginia’s new governor is a direct result of the Fox News Outrage Machine (and other more minor, but no less anti-American, “news” outlets). He picked up on culture wars, and framed the ability to flaunt public health practices and the re-writing of history as freedom from tyranny.
Religious leaders have long known how to keep their flock in line by using fear and outrage. Republicans are just doing the same thing, and claiming that Jesus is on their side is just icing on the cake.
Well, it’s true that MOST of the kids won’t die from Covid. And since GQPians are totally unable to understand non-integer numbers (much less statistics), inside their heads, “most will live” is the same as “nobody will die” is (by impeccable logic) the same as “Democrats manufactured the pandemic to steal your rights.”
He’s banned the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in Virginia primary and secondary schools . . . which have never taught CRT. It’s all just a stupid show to pander to the right wing crowd.
