This causes businesses to to also slow/stop production to save money and reduce inventory.
When people got vaccinated and were able to resume working, demand increased faster than businesses were able to compensate on slower footing, creating shortages and causing price hikes (supply and demand). unfortunately, supply will lag until enough people are vaccinated and able to resume work, thus increasing supply and reducing costs.

Presidents have little impact on the economy in the near term. Any economist would tell you that. There are some small things he could probably do, but the real cause of this inflation is supply and demand, two things he can do nothing about.

A large part of what is being called inflation is because there are many companies using it as an excuse to raise prices far beyond what their actual raised costs are.
Trump greatly mishandled the Covid outbreaks of 2020. The form of Covid we’re dealing with now is different than the Covid in 2020. Viruses adapt and evolve over time. And when supply chain crunches started to build in countries that also got socked with Covid. Also, in economic recoveries (especially the early stages) demand almost always outpaces supply. Pushing prices up further. The hope is once the supply chain backups ease and people feel safe going back to work, prices should stabilize as a result. In the meantime, the Federal Reserve is seriously considering raising interest rates (like then Fed Chairman Paul Volker did in the early 80’s) to tamp down inflation. That would be bad news for people looking to buy a house or a new car, but good news for people with savings accounts (since interest rates have been close to zero for ages). But I am hopeful that as we head toward mid 2022 the supply chain backups will have eased considerably and prices will have stabilized. In the meantime, Biden is dealing with all the stuff Trump had left for him to clean up (like the Afghani withdrawal, which Trump arranged with the Taliban before he left office). It’s easier to break things than fix them.

Matthews attempts to base his argument partially on Plato’s Republic, in which children are surrendered to the Guardians to be raised. But while he’s trying to sound well-read and learned by referencing Plato, he simultaneously beclowns himself. It’s widely believed that Plato’s Republic is a satirical piece. Referencing many of the ideas presented in the piece would be like referencing Jonathon Swift’s A Modest Proposal, but then I’m sure Matthews would be okay with eating people, too.
I also don’t believe little Matthews bothered to read Republic in full, either, because the entire birthing program in the book is overtly eugenic. Although, with all the racism on the left, perhaps he does support such a program.
He goes a step further, though, arguing that such a plan would appeal to the left and right in equal measure. Now, his reasoning for the left may very well be true, as he says such a move would “dismantle white supremacy and outdated gender norms,” and the left will go to extreme lengths for such phrases.
But he argues, likewise, that Republicans should support it because they have no issue taking children from illegal aliens who cross the border. Being the ignorant twit he obviously is, Matthews doesn’t bother to take into account that the separation policy at the border began under Clinton (See Flores v. Reno). Whoopsie! Regardless, the contention is asinine. The notion that because criminals can’t take their children to jail with them—a policy that is enforced for all who commit crimes (I’ve yet to see the parent who gets arrested in the U.S. and gets to drag their children to the jail with them)—would translate into, “let’s all just toss our children into a heap and leave” is just… ridiculous doesn’t begin to describe it.
Needless to say, Matthews’ arguments are moronic, half-baked brain diarrhea. If the left was comprised of serious people, this column would have never seen publication. His editor would have looked him in the eyes and fired him on the spot for being such a clod. But the left isn’t serious. They are insane. So, Matthews’ editor read it over, gave him a thumbs-up, and began to dream about all the children he’d try to collect.

When people got vaccinated and were able to resume working, demand increased faster than businesses were able to compensate on slower footing, creating shortages and causing price hikes (supply and demand). unfortunately, supply will lag until enough people are vaccinated and able to resume work, thus increasing supply and reducing costs.
Most of the lag right now are in hesitancy in getting vaccinated, which is mostly in Red states.
So sure, Loony Lisa, blame Biden for something that started under the Last Occupant and is being propagated by RWNJs refusing to get vaccinated and lowering the infection rate. It’s a lazy dodge.

Trump greatly mishandled the Covid outbreaks of 2020. The form of Covid we’re dealing with now is different than the Covid in 2020. Viruses adapt and evolve over time. And when supply chain crunches started to build in countries that also got socked with Covid. Also, in economic recoveries (especially the early stages) demand almost always outpaces supply. Pushing prices up further. The hope is once the supply chain backups ease and people feel safe going back to work, prices should stabilize as a result. In the meantime, the Federal Reserve is seriously considering raising interest rates (like then Fed Chairman Paul Volker did in the early 80’s) to tamp down inflation. That would be bad news for people looking to buy a house or a new car, but good news for people with savings accounts (since interest rates have been close to zero for ages). But I am hopeful that as we head toward mid 2022 the supply chain backups will have eased considerably and prices will have stabilized. In the meantime, Biden is dealing with all the stuff Trump had left for him to clean up (like the Afghani withdrawal, which Trump arranged with the Taliban before he left office). It’s easier to break things than fix them.

Matthews attempts to base his argument partially on Plato’s Republic, in which children are surrendered to the Guardians to be raised. But while he’s trying to sound well-read and learned by referencing Plato, he simultaneously beclowns himself. It’s widely believed that Plato’s Republic is a satirical piece. Referencing many of the ideas presented in the piece would be like referencing Jonathon Swift’s A Modest Proposal, but then I’m sure Matthews would be okay with eating people, too.
I also don’t believe little Matthews bothered to read Republic in full, either, because the entire birthing program in the book is overtly eugenic. Although, with all the racism on the left, perhaps he does support such a program.
He goes a step further, though, arguing that such a plan would appeal to the left and right in equal measure. Now, his reasoning for the left may very well be true, as he says such a move would “dismantle white supremacy and outdated gender norms,” and the left will go to extreme lengths for such phrases.
But he argues, likewise, that Republicans should support it because they have no issue taking children from illegal aliens who cross the border. Being the ignorant twit he obviously is, Matthews doesn’t bother to take into account that the separation policy at the border began under Clinton (See Flores v. Reno). Whoopsie! Regardless, the contention is asinine. The notion that because criminals can’t take their children to jail with them—a policy that is enforced for all who commit crimes (I’ve yet to see the parent who gets arrested in the U.S. and gets to drag their children to the jail with them)—would translate into, “let’s all just toss our children into a heap and leave” is just… ridiculous doesn’t begin to describe it.
